Chelsea Blackwell from Love Is Blind Season 6 has been getting slammed for her “clingy” behavior towards her (now-ex) fiancé Jimmy Presnell. Fans have also been making fun of Chelsea online for her “claim” that she looks like Megan Fox, posting relentless memes online and constant comparisons between Chelsea and the Transformers star. However, we don’t think Chelsea deserves all the backlash she’s been getting about either of these topics. Here’s the tea on why Love Is Blind’s Chelsea doesn’t deserve all of the hate coming her way.
There Were Many Clues Jimmy Wasn’t Into Her
Jimmy connected with both Chelsea and Jessica Vestal in Love Is Blind Season 6, but ultimately proposed to Chelsea. Before they met face to face, Chelsea and Jimmy were discussing looks – excuse us guys, what show is this?! Chelsea mentioned that people have compared her to Megan Fox, but she also said, “Don’t get excited; it’s only because I have dark hair and light eyes!”
Jimmy didn’t listen, and when he and Chelsea met in person for the first time, he told her he was “surprised” by her looks. He then told the cameras that Chelsea “lied” about how she looked regarding the Megan Fox comment. When he had gotten to know Chelsea in person for a few weeks, he made several comments to her about Jessica’s looks, such as that the other guys said Jessica looked like a Kardashian. Who wants to hear that about their new fiancé’s ex?
Jimmy (and the Internet) thought Chelsea was clingy when she mentioned that Jimmy didn’t show her he loved her enough. However, we get this because all of Jimmy’s behavior does not exactly sound like a man in love with his fiancé. Yes, Jimmy did warm up to Chelsea later, and they communicate well when they aren’t fighting, but all of the things we mentioned are definitely enough to make someone insecure.
Jimmy Seemingly Had a Fling With a Female Friend He “Texts All Day” and Goes Out Drinking With
Jimmy and Chelsea’s most famous fight was when Jimmy went out drinking with some friends. Afterwards, Chelsea said she doesn’t want to be with someone who always goes out. Viewers have been giving her flack for being too dramatic about this. Chelsea’s argument was definitely jumping all over the place while she was yelling at Jimmy, but she had indulged in a few drinks. The fight was pretty hard to follow. But people fail to remember that Jimmy was apparently drinking with a female friend that he “texts all day.”
Jimmy got mad at Chelsea for bringing it up in front of cameras to protect his friend, which is honorable. Jimmy also mentioned that Chelsea was texting with an ex as well. We don’t know anything about either of these situations, so hopefully, we will find out more in the finale.
Texting an ex shortly after you get engaged is sketch no matter who does it. We can also definitely see how one could easily get insecure if your new fiancé was drinking and “texting all day” with someone he slept with. Like, that can easily lead to “hanging out in the parking lot of Lost and Found at 5 a.m.”
Drinking and shouting was absolutely not the way to handle this on Chelsea’s part. However, fans seem to want to hate on Chelsea’s insecurities without thinking of what Jimmy did to exacerbate them.
Ok, so the Whole Megan Fox Thing…
No, Chelsea doesn’t look exactly like Megan Fox. However, like we said before, she expressly said to Jimmy “don’t get excited – it’s only because I have dark hair and light eyes.” Jimmy chose to ignore this last part and only stuck with what he wanted to hear.
From the editing, it looks like Chelsea brought up the “which celebrity do we look like” conversation. This shouldn’t have even been brought up in a show with the premise of getting engaged, sight unseen.
Regardless, Jimmy and the Internet ignored Chelsea’s “don’t get excited” caveat. The Internet has been relentlessly comparing Chelsea’s 2024 appearance to photos from Megan Fox in Transformers in the early 2000s. Leave the poor woman alone, y’all. We don’t know if love is blind, but we definitely know it’s not nice to give people hate on their appearances – especially given that Chelsea’s “don’t get excited” comment was ignored.
