Last season, for better or worse, Real Housewives of New York was anchored around Luann de Lesseps. Everyone else was a supporting player to the cabaret queen’s antics. Even fellow “OG” Bethenny Frankel, who announced she was done with cabaret leaving the show, had a melt-down about Luann’s ego and cabaret career.
While the other New York ladies were eager to ditch Luann’s holiday cabaret show, long-time friend and newbie Housewife Barbara Kavovit attended. Unfortunately for her, she made some comments that were caught on a live mic. #rookiemistake.
That’s right–Barbara was heard telling her sister that Luann “can’t really sing.” At the RHONY reunion, Barbara told Luann that she does support her, but Luann isn’t going to rival Adele anytime soon.
But Luann was not in a forgiving mood, especially when it came to a critique of her vocal stylings. What Luann said next was the death knell for her friendship with Barbara. According to US Weekly, Luann appeared on SiriusXM’s The Jenny McCarthy Show on and she blasted Barbara.

“Girlfriend, I can carry a tune, so hell with Barbara. That’s the second time, also, that she got caught on camera talking smack about me. … You have to pull the weeds, so you can make room for the lowers,” Luann said. I am going to guess that she meant “flowers,” not “lowers.”
Barbara responded during an interview on Us Weekly’s “Hot Hollywood” podcast. “That’s the thing with a narcissist, you can look at yourself and believe that everything about you is so wonderful and throw everyone away,” she added. “ I remember last year, picking her up off the floor, literally, trying to carry her, protect her, I was her protector for 14 years…To make it like she’s [pulling] weeds, like I was the bad person, like Bethenny was the bad person?… My prediction? She hasn’t hit rock bottom yet.”

And Barbara is done with Luann. “There is no good with Luann. I had a 14-year friendship with her that I will walk away from forever. She will never have me as a friend again,” Barbara remarked.
So, how cool or uncool is Luann with this news? Luann told toofab on November 15, “I wish her only the best.” That was a chilly response. “You go low, and I go high,” Luann added, quoting Michelle Obama. The fact that Luann never “goes high” is apparently lost on Luann.

There are some other RHONY co-stars who aren’t exactly crying over Barbara exiting the show. At the reunion, Dorinda Medley compared Barbara to a turnip in a fruit basket. Just the words that everyone longs to hear. Barbara is probably grateful to be off the show.
