Trigger warning: This article discusses suicide.
Welcome back to the Vanderpump Rules Season 11, Episode 4 recap. Last time, Schwartz tried to rally the group for a trip to Lake Tahoe. It didn’t go well. This week’s episode, titled “Dog Days of Summer,” features Ally and James hosting their first pool party, while Lisa shares some advice about Sandoval with Lala and Scheana. Here’s everything that you need to know about Pump Rules Season 11, Episode 4!
Ariana has no love for Schwartz
Ariana and Katie were sequestered in Ariana’s room, and what they were discussing was hilarious. Katie and Ariana took a Lyft from See You Next Tuesday. And it was the same driver who drove Ariana and Sandoval home the night that she found out about his affair with Rachel Leviss. Well, apparently the night of March 1, 2023, also impacted this poor driver.
At See You Next Tuesday, Ariana said that Lala had some valid points. But when Schwartz complained about being jumped on, Ariana was annoyed. While looking in a mirror and touching up her make-up, Ariana shaded Schwartz. “This guy that I haven’t spoken to in you know … however many months, all of a sudden is some sort of a … authority on who I am and how I live my life and what I think and feel?” she remarked. “Just like a man.” So icy. It bears repeating that this was filmed just months after Scandoval exploded.
Lisa shares her concerns about Sandoval
Lala and Scheana met with Lisa at Villa Rosa. Lisa shared with the ladies that Sandoval was in “a very dark place.” Scheana explained that she reached out to him when his friend, Ali, passed away, and he blocked her. She wasn’t feeling his “villain energy.” And Scheana was furious that he wasn’t owning his actions, and she didn’t think he seemed depressed at See You Next Tuesday. But again, depression isn’t necessarily visible.
Lisa made excuses for him, and Lala shut her down. Scheana said that he called Lala “a narcissist.” This hit Lala hard. She screwed up, but she took accountability. And Lala won’t forgive him until he can admit how much he hurt her. Good luck with that, Lala.
Lisa shared that she knew about depression from her brother taking his own life. She doesn’t want Sandoval “to break.” Lisa added, “I don’t want to be in a position where we have regret.”
The Pump Rules matriarch explained that Sandoval was not the type of person who mentions suicidal thoughts unless he experienced them. This realization made Lala and Scheana emotional. Lala never considered Sandoval’s mental health amid all the drama.
Scheana questioned if having a relationship with Sandoval was worth losing Ariana’s friendship. Lisa urged her to talk to Ariana. The singer doesn’t want to keep attacking Sandoval if he is in a bad place.
James is the host doing the most
Ally and James were hosting their first pool party at their house. And James has gone all out at “Casa Kennedy,” and spent like $2,000 for this shindig. James had to buy a dozen towels because he was adulting.
Katie, Ariana, Scheana, and Lala arrived. Schwartz came next, with the third plant that he gave James and Ally. He was still smarting from his conversation the previous night with Queen Ariana and her court. James jumped off the edge of the roof and into the pool, followed by Schwartz. That seems safe, right?
Lala and Schwartz chatted about the previous night, and he shared that Ariana looked at him like he “was sub-human.” Even though he cares about Ariana, he won’t grovel for her affection. Meanwhile, Lala felt like “a dog in everyone else’s fight.” She wants to live in the land of forgiveness, not aggression.
Then she shared that Schwartz is a people-pleaser like her father, and she thinks that is what killed her dad. It was just too much stress. And she apologized for crushing Schwartz last season when he was dealing with issues within his family. Schwartz apologized, too, but ended up begging Lala to not give up on Sandoval. Of course, he did.
Ariana ignores Lisa’s concerns
Scheana explained to Katie and Ariana that she and Lala went to Villa Rosa, and shared why Lisa was worried about Sandoval’s depression. Scheana added that Lisa asked them to stop bashing Sandoval.
Ariana wasn’t having it. She claimed that Sandoval and Lisa’s brother were two different people. And worse yet? Sandoval still won’t take accountability for his actions. So, that is a hard no from Ariana about taking it easy on Sandoval.
When Scheana said that she missed her friendship with Sandoval, Ariana replied that Sandoval wasn’t really her friend. Ouch!
Sandoval takes the plunge
Sandoval and Billie Lee hit up a wellness studio to take a cold plunge. He wants to find a healthier way to channel his emotions. Do you know what is creepy? Having Sandoval in a bathtub, while Billie kneeled beside it, asking how intense it was. It was freezing, Billie.
Meanwhile, he was pining away for “his old life.” So, he shared this pearl of wisdom. “It’s always the people that are closest to you that seem to you hurt you the most.” So true. Right, Ariana?
Anyway, Sandoval misses Rachel. He hasn’t spoken to her for three weeks. During that conversation, she told Sandoval she was extending her stay in the mental health facility. “What we had was definitely love. That’s why I was so addicted to it,” he told Billie. He still wanted to try and make his relationship with Rachel work. Spoiler alert: Not happening, dude.
Billie was worried about all the hate directed at Sandoval and said that she worried that they “could have lost” him. He admitted to feeling like that more than once.
Meet Jo Wenberg
At Schwartz’s apartment, his friend, Jo Wenberg, was giving him a haircut. He called her “a light in his life.” Schwartz set the record straight about Jo. She was never his roommate, but they had a bit of a romance. But they were just friends now.
When Sandoval arrived, Jo was excited. Schwartz invited Sandoval to Lake Tahoe and told him that Katie and Ariana were not going. Schwartz would like Sandoval to leave “his ego” at home and be apologetic to his VPR co-stars.
Instead, Sandoval thinks it “was f*cked up” for Lala and Scheana to cash in on Scandoval with merch and their podcasts. According to Sandoval, these two ladies taught the rest of the world how to slam him and Schwartz. All that spin is making me dizzy.
Reunited and it feels so good!
Lisa summoned James to Vanderpump Dogs. And who comes running down the stairs? It’s Graham! James broke down in tears. Lisa explained that she received a call stating that Graham had been in a foster home for two months. He had bitten people a few times, and he was going to be dropped at a shelter. Lisa was asked if Vanderpump Dogs would take him.
James was devastated by what Graham had been through. He called the pup “his best friend.” But his despair turned to elation when he learned that he could take Graham Cracker home.
