The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are putting in more work this season than they have in years. The Golden Era of this show is back once again. After a few dud seasons, they are back to being a top-tier Housewives franchise.
Crystal Kung Minkoff is hosting most of the girls for cocktails and snacks. The one thing I didn’t like about the opening scene was Kyle Richards sharing the voicemail from Dorit Kemsley. It was not okay. It felt like an invasion. There’s no reason to share something raw like that which happened off-camera.
Dorit’s going through a lot since the home invasion. Her anxiety is at an all-time high, and she’s having difficulty managing it. Her breakdown outside of Kyle’s home in the premiere was so tough to watch. She was having a full-on PTSD moment, and it was far from the Dorit we’ve grown accustomed to seeing over the years.
Kyle doesn’t waste any time getting right to the tea. She’s more than happy to tell everyone about Sutton Stracke’s insensitive comments. My jaw is still on the floor from Sutton trying to compare the situations. You don’t say that.
Everyone’s shocked to hear what Sutton said, but Erika Jayne’s reveling in it. Of course, she is. She still has it out for Sutton after last season. Garcelle Beauvais speaks up and says she doesn’t feel comfortable talking behind her friend’s back.
Say what you want about Garcelle, but she’s a damn good friend. Garcelle’s also feeling like the new queen of the show and slowly taking over Kyle’s role. I don’t think that’s a bad thing either. It’s high time this show has its changing of the guard.
Kyle’s inviting everyone to the opening of her new store. Another new store? I figured this was a one-and-done thing for her, but it’s really happening. All of the women are heading out to the desert to celebrate her. We saw what happened the last time the group was out there. Erika’s life was beginning to crumble to pieces.
Watching Erika be forced to wear items again is such a trip. We’ve never seen her in such a position. This is something people never thought they’d see from Erika. It’s hard to feel bad for her that “oh no” she has to wear her designer clothing *twice*.
The difference between Crystal and Diana Jenkins is wild to witness. Hearing that Diana’s never gone shopping before and never pays retail is so RICH. This is the big money we’re trying to see in Beverly Hills.
Crystal links up with Sutton and drops the bombshell on her about Kyle. She wants to continue moving forward in her friendship with Sutton, so she’s spilling all of the tea. However, at the same time, she’s holding her accountable if that’s what she said.
Sutton’s triggered by the events of the robbery. It reminds her of a traumatic event in her childhood and also the suicide of her father. Sutton probably said what she said, so she wouldn’t have to speak on it anymore. Understandable.
I don’t think her insensitivity the day after the robbery was malicious. Until Kyle brought it up to her, Sutton probably didn’t realize how she came off when discussing it. This is the case a lot with Sutton because she has many foot-in-mouth moments.
Diana’s not relatable in any way, but she oozes escapism. Her affluent lifestyle is GIVING. I want to see and hear more from her. I also LOVE Neuro drinks, so she already has my attention.
At Kyle’s event, Sutton apologizes to Dorit for the heinous comments she made. It feels like a sincere apology, so Dorit graciously accepts. Will it be deaded here though? Something tells me someone will try and drag this out for the entire season.
Kyle’s dogs are running rampant in her home and stealing everyone’s food. It’s sort of gross. Get hold of your animals and have some manners. Gross. Nasty.
Sutton says she didn’t reach out to Dorit because she didn’t know her state of mind. Sutton’s talking about boundaries, and they’re looking at her like she’s insane. Diana chimes in and says Sutton’s clumsy with her words. She thinks she comes off weird and wrong and hurts people. Who is coaching Diana? There’s no way she formed her opinion that fast.
Crystal’s triggered because she doesn’t like Sutton being told how to feel. Violation was considered to be such a big deal for the group. Once again, the Fox Force Four is ganging up on someone. They now deem it acceptable to go after Sutton, so it’s OK. Those four are nothing but double standards.
Erika and Sutton go head to head again and rehash the events of last year. Everyone’s trying to paint Sutton as the villain here, but it’s not that black and white. She is weird, and she is wrong in this instance, but not everything is wrong.
Dorit’s trying to understand how Crystal’s issue last year correlates to this, and she’s totally missing the point. The scenarios are not the same. Nobody is saying that. Crystal’s just pointing out the double standard in approaching issues with Sutton. That’s it. Kyle and her goons don’t want to hear it.
This is yet another situation where the four longest-running members of the group try and take control. Everyone that comes into this show will feel like an outsider until we break this group up. The longer they remain in power, the more difficult it’ll be for anyone to acclimate.
