Kenya Moore Says Her Divorce Is “Liberating” And She Deserves Better Than Marc Daly

Kenya Moore has always been a star on Real Housewives of Atlanta. Love her or hate her (I love her, don’t come for me!), you have to admit that she’s always willing to make it interesting. And her time on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip is no exception. While she’s already taken down Ramona Singer, she also sparred with longtime friend, Cynthia Bailey. But she also seems to be getting along swimmingly with the rest of the cast. She even called Melissa Gorga her turn up buddy! Who would have pictured those two together?

But Kenya has been going through her divorce from Marc Daly for awhile now and it’s contentious at best. That spilled over to RHUGT when she had a court date by Zoom. She left the hearing crying and was comforted by castmate Kyle Richards. It was a tough moment for Kenya, who always appears to put on a strong front.

Now Kenya is at long last realizing that she is better off without him. She recently spoke with Page Six to explain. Kenya revealed, “What’s liberating is to be able to live through it and come out better for it. I’m excited for this new chapter and this new life.”

The couple were married for four years and had a daughter, Brooklyn Daly, now 3, before Kenya filed for divorce. While Kenya tried to keep her married life under wraps on the show, what we did see of Marc wasn’t great. Kenya recalled, “I felt lost in my marriage. I lost myself, I lost my voice and I lost a lot of my confidence and self-esteem because of everything that was happening with the relationship.”

Kenya finally reached her breaking point when she realized that she “deserved better.” She continued, “The light at the end of the tunnel … was feeling that I’ll be OK, that I was over being in a toxic relationship and [realizing] that the choices I was making were not right for my daughter — because her mommy has to be happy first and then she will be happy. So, to stay in a relationship that’s not good does not mean that it’s the best for the children. It’s not.” She added, “I was very patient. And, again, I made decisions that I wouldn’t necessarily make [today] to keep the relationship there.”

Now that her divorce is almost behind her, Kenya said she’s living her “best life” and can’t wait for fans to see a  “happy, divorce-free Kenya” on the next season of RHOA. She admitted, “[I’m] someone that’s starting my path over … and just doing things the way I want to do them, living life with reckless abandon. I’m just getting back into it, honey. I’m getting my groove back. I’m the Kenya that came in Season 5, but now [it’s] 10 years later and my life has changed so much and now you’re getting a brand new Kenya. I’m having so much fun.”

As for dating, Kenya teased, “I’m taking the calls and getting the people calling me wanting to set me up. I’m just trying to figure out what I want to do, but I definitely think they’ll see a little bit of that this season, for sure. Instead of ‘How Stella Got Her Groove Back,’ it’ll be, ‘How Kenya Got Her Groove Back.’”

In the meantime, Kenya is working on her coparenting relationship with Marc. And over the summer, they reached a custody agreement, granting Kenya full custody. It also granted Kenya permission to allow Brooklyn to appear on RHOA. Said Kenya of their relationship as parents, “It’s still a work in progress but I’m hopeful that we will be able to get to a point where it’s very smooth and [there’s] definitely no issues with it. We’re still working that roadmap out right now. But so far, so good.”
