After receiving so much backlash following last years Real Housewives of Potomac reunion, and Real Housewives of New York being the ultimate let down this year, what did Andy Cohen have to lose? When Gizelle Bryant asked for Nicki Minaj to come host the season 6 reunion, Andy said he was down for the cause! And Nicki was too! I was personally baffled with Nicki shared the screenshots from her publicist saying, “Andy said he would gladly give up his seat to have you host the Potomac reunion. Tapes around October.” Are we jumping the shark?
I, for one, am finding the latest RHOP season a bit contrived. And don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this show. Even in snoozy season one for goodness sakes! But now it seems like the veteran women are much more careful about picking their teams and bringing in off-camera mess. I also detect a bit more acting/producer staged interaction than is typical on this particular franchise. Just me?
And say what you will about Mia Thornton, but she is bringing the drama this year. What would we have without her? More Gizelle vs. Karen Huger/Ray Huger? More Ashley Darby and her impish husband? Would we still be talking about Wendy Osefo’s boobs? No thanks! Fans owe Mia and Askale Davis a LOT for carrying this season as the new girls.

Even celebrity fan Nicki Minaj has caught on to the Askale hype. After Askale clapped back at Mia earlier in the season, Nicki posted, “Askale was right. I knew I’d like what she had to say once she finally spoke.” Alright! And now we’ll get to see how Nicki does with the rest of the women. Last week Nicki posted a picture to her Instagram alongside Andy Cohen. She captioned it, “GUESS WHO BTCHS?!!!!! #Andiconda #RHOP REUNION COMING SOON” You got that right! She’s attending the RHOP reunion!
Nicki also did her best to amp up the Potomac fandom. She ended her caption saying, “Yall better binge watch this season chile.” Well, you heard the lady! If you’re sleeping on Potomac at this point, get yourself together.
Andy posted the exact same photo as Nicki to his grid too. His caption read, “It’s the Reunion I could never get away with! At the end of ours, tonight @nickiminaj surprised the #RHOP and did her own thing! #AndyConda”

I’m still worried this is going a little too Watch What Happens Live club-housey for a banger franchise reunion, but maybe that’s the direction producers are taking it? One things for sure, I’ll be ready to watch Mia confront Nicki’s Askale comments in the flesh!
