Barbara Kavovit never got the chance she deserved on Real Housewives of New York. She was brought in as a “friend of” Luann de Lesseps during her most tumultuous season to date. Luann was in the midst of an emotional crisis and Barbara was apparently the one who helped get her mostly straightened out in the office season. By the time the ladies hit filming, Barbara was still around but only as a punching bag for castmates like Ramona Singer and Dorinda Medley.
Luann, being the self-absorbed diva that she is, didn’t do much to stop it either. Whether she was so embroiled in her own issues or if she really just expended all her energy avoiding the fish room, Barbara was left out in the friendship cold.
Some people thought Barbara was just too boring or too timid to hold her own against the women. I personally thought she was just too nice. She tried but even the prodding of Bethenny Frankel in Miami couldn’t save her. Barbara disappeared into housewives obscurity, left to tend to her lady hammer or construction business or whatever it is she did. We never really got a chance to deep dive into that, outside of her ill-fated assessment of Dorinda’s apartment. We all know how that turned out.
But Barbara still has a few tricks up her signature wrap dress. Page Six reports that Barbara and her construction company were recently hired to demolish the office of disgraced Hollywood mogul, Harvey Weinstein. Barbara’s company won the opportunity over three other male-owned companies that also vied for the high-profile job.

Barbara said her company is “taking it down to the walls and building it new,” which will take an estimated 16 weeks to demolish and rebuild. She noted that about fifty workers will be needed for the job but is requiring that twenty percent of those workers be female. She says of the project, “This is so personal, emotional and passionate for me because I feel the pain of those women. I’ve had a lot of Harveys in my life.”
“Demolition is crucial for starting over, and we are taking this down to the bones,” Barbara added. “When I walk in here, I can feel the emotional ghosts. There were such brave women who stood up in that courtroom and faced Harvey. As we rip out the studs and use the sledgehammers to tear down the walls, I feel like I am doing it for them.”

Like I said, Barbara didn’t get the shot on RHONY that she deserved so I’m glad she’s getting a real-life shot that means so much to so many women.
