Even though the Real Housewives of Orange County viewers are still “getting to know” Gina Kirchenheiter, it’s really not “shocking” that she and her husband Matt Kirschenheiter are divorcing. He hasn’t appeared on the show and he has an apartment in another city, that Gina admits she has never even seen.
Sure, everyone’s relationship is different, but that just seems like a lot with Gina raising three kids in Orange County. Of course, hindsight is 20/20 and it’s easy for us viewers to have an opinion as outsiders, but the women on the show were actually surprised when Gina shared her intention to divorce. Really? They didn’t see any red flags with their relationship at that time?
Gina discussed the last episode in a Bravo blog post. She said, “I knew the other women were going to be shocked to hear Matt and I were splitting. But the reality is they don’t know Matt or anything about our relationship, so I was surprised they had such strong opinions about my divorce.” Has she not seen this show before? Of course they have strong opinions about her personal life. Having strong strong opinions about the other cast members’ personal lives is the premise of this show.
Nevertheless, Gina admitted, “I hoped they would just be supportive, but hopefully they will get to a place where they can be.”

Even so, Gina confessed, “Their advice actually made me feel good about my decision. It reassured me that I don’t want to go through what they went through, and that’s why I am doing this now.” Is that shade? Or is she just innocently heeding their warnings?
Gina concluded, “But I honestly don’t need the peanut gallery to weigh in on my marriage for me to feel confident about what I am doing.” I don’t blame her for feeling that way, but that’s not really possible since she signed up to be a Real Housewife.
