Lydia McLaughlin Enjoyed Meeting Meghan Edmonds, But Questions Meghan’s Online Trash Talking

Lydia McLaughlin has great hair. That’s all I’ve got. (Kidding! But, I was surprised to hear she’d be back this season, given her mildly “blah” presence last time around). Since her return to The Real Housewives Of Orange County, Lydia has been trying hard to situate herself in the middle of the drama, rather than on its perimeters. Great move to keep that orange, but not so wise in terms of holding on to one’s sanity.

This week, Lydia was largely absent from the show, as she and her family frolicked in Hawaii – where they discuss sexy ladies and vasectomies. In her blog, Lydia explains why she and hubby Doug felt it was necessary to give their boys a sex talk…on the beach.

“Our older boys had talked about ‘sexy lady’ the week before and so Doug and I knew that we needed to have a conversation with them about sex. Of course it’s uncomfortable, but we believe it is good to communicate, and I want my boys to feel comfortable to talk about everything with us. We believe teaching kids about sex involves not just one conversation, but a series of ongoing conversations…some formal, some informal. Hawaii seemed like a perfect (and memorable) time to have a talk.”

As for her nearly constant jokes about Doug “cutting his balls off,” Lydia maintains that their vasectomy discussions are actually no laughing matter. She explains in her blog that “the decision to have a vasectomy is a big one. I tend to joke around and make light of things in life and that definitely comes across at the dinner with a Doug. We have always wanted a little girl, but at the same time we feel our family is complete with three boys. It is sad to think that desire will never be met. I am very grateful I have a man who is open to talk with me about these decisions and journey through life with me.”

Okay – enough of that! Moving on to Peggy Sulahian’s Lamborghini party, Lydia claims she enjoyed meeting Meghan and Jim Edmonds for the first time. “They both seemed very nice and I left excited to get to know Meghan better,” reflects Lydia, who apparently missed the Peggy/Meghan lip clip that’s sure to cause drama for weeks (months?!) to come.

Lydia claims, “Even though I was standing right next to her, I missed the moment where Peggy closed Meghan’s mouth. I may not of seen it, but I definitely hear about it later!”

Although Lydia feels she and Meghan operate on similar conflict-resolution wavelengths, she does bristle at Meghan’s online commentary about her.

“I think Meghan and I are similar in the way that we like to talk things through and have a healthy view of conflict and resolution. I was sad to read in her past blogs and social media that she was putting me down for bringing up Vicki [Gunvalson] to Shannon [Beador]. That is exactly what she is doing at Peggy’s event to Vicki, and I think at the heart of the issue, is that her intention is good.”

Well, current intentions may not matter in the end. Because this year’s cast seems hell bent on holding on to last year’s drama like it’s The Ring and they’re all Gollum. With lipstick on.

But glass-half-full Lydia holds out hope! She may be alone on her sparkly rainbow, but she likes it there. She even admits, “I liked seeing the flashbacks of all the times Vicki has apologized, and I have hope that these friendships can be restored.”

TELL US: DO YOU THINK THE RHOC FRIENDSHIPS CAN BE RESTORED, OR IS IT A LOST CAUSE? IS LYDIA HERE FOR CONFLICT RESOLUTION OR SH*T STIRRING?
