Even though JT Thomas has left the building he has still made a mark on Southern Charm. The man, the myth, the Napoleon legend ruffles a few feathers when he first appeared in Season 9. He made it clear that he didn’t like how the other boys treated the ladies. And picked one hell of a fight with OG Austen Kroll. However, Season 10 is showing a new side to JT, the hustler. So how did this man with a silver spoon earn his money?

JT Thomas loves historic homes

I was gobsmacked when, during the most recent episode of Southern Charm, JT noted, “I don’t identify as rich.” This dude! The thing is, if you look at JT, you can tell he has a bit of money. Between his swag and blatant privilege, he stands before fans as a man who knows how to work hard for his money. JT was kind enough to give fans a tour of his The Inns property. The historic property is right next door to King Street and boasts Charleston brick design and luxury finishes. JT built the luxury property from the ground up and he lamented about when it was just dirt and dumpsters.

Even though JT doesn’t see himself as well off, he admitted, “I am doing well.” He has eight other properties in his repertoire. However, The Inns is the largest B&B property in downtown Charleston and on the peninsula. With 19 bedrooms, JT stands to make a lot of money. JT shared that “this particular property had zoning, which made it a hotel. So it’s very valuable.”

JT Thomas got his start in real estate

During a Season 9 confessional, JT shared, “My mom’s a top interior designer in the D.C. area. She renovates properties,” he explained. “She showed me the ropes, and now I invest in real estate. I develop real estate, and I renovate real estate.” During his freshman season, JT was working on creating an event space. He completely gutted it and by the season finale, had a finished project. During the same interview, he opened up about The Inns, sharing, “One of my core businesses is a collection of Airbnbs in Downtown Charleston, and that’s why a couple of years ago I actually made Charleston my full-time home.”

After visiting The Inns’ website, I learned that the property consists of eight or nine multi-family homes and can host up to 120 guests. If you want to stay, you can expect to pay anywhere between $2,500 and $179 per night. This is a pretty penny for JT and his partners. JT would have made a little money from his Bravo paycheck along with his daytime job. While we can’t be sure exactly what he would have been paid for two seasons and one reunion, he would have walked away with at least six figures in his pocket.

JT Thomas has said goodbye to Southern Charm

Just before Season 10 of Southern Charm premiered, JT revealed that he wouldn’t be returning to the series. He took to his social media to share the news with viewers, who were surprised since he had done so well for himself on Season 9. The one-hit wonder wrote, “It comes with a heavy heart to share that I have resigned from Southern Charm.” JT continued, “Yesterday, I informed Bravo that I would not participate in the 2-3 remaining green room interviews.” After the season premiere, it was noted that JT might be in the hot seat for some of his actions.

The exit felt like a planned escape, as he added, “I no longer wish to participate in any way moving forward with the TV show. I will leave it at that for now. While I work on the next steps to recover both physically and mentally from what has been an extremely challenging and exhausting year.” Even though JT might have lost a Bravo paycheck, he will land comfortably on his laurels. Between renting out his luxury properties, dabbling in merchandise, and building event spaces, JT proves his love of business over and over again.

You can watch Southern Charm on Thursdays on Bravo.
