Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars gifted viewers an exciting, competitive season filled with fabulous routines and some possible romances. Model Brooks Nader and her partner, Gleb Savchenko, seemed to be dating until they were eliminated. However, there was one couple everyone wanted to ship: Bachelorette star Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber.
Jenn and Sasha had incredible chemistry, and it did not go unnoticed. The judges commented, as did other pros and DWTS fans. While the couple has never actually defined their relationship, it doesn’t seem like a “showmance.” After Jenn’s recent heartbreak, fans seemed invested in seeing her find her happily ever after. After all, the show has a history of couples finding love in the ballroom. For example, Season 20 competitor Robert Herjavec was paired with pro Kym Johnson. The couple later married. Both Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber have dealt with heartbreak
Bachelorette fans when thrilled for Jenn when she proposed to Devin Strader during the finale. For good measure, he also proposed to her. And right after that, the romance went south. During the After the Final Rose episode, Jenn told host Jesse Palmer what happened. “He was making bold proclamations of love. And then suddenly the next day he was like, nothing and he denied ever being in love,” Jenn explained.
While Devin was remorseful for not sharing his concerns about their relationship sooner, Jenn slammed him for his unfeeling behavior. “You had one foot out the door the entire time,” she stated. And the kicker? Devin broke up with Jenn during a phone call. That is the WORST. Poor Jenn ended up alone after this humiliating experience.
Of course, Sasha also endured a public break-up. He was married to fellow DWTS pro Emma Slater. The couple married in 2018. However, in February 2023, Emma filed for divorce. So, what went wrong?
“We’re still like family, so it isn’t really like the love is not there. It’s actually not that at all,” Emma explained. “We’re just at potentially two different places. It’s really the kid thing.” She added, “It’s interesting because I do want to have kids, I just don’t want to delay Sasha’s path in having kids because I know that he is ready for that.”
Thankfully, this former duo hasn’t let their split affect their ability to work together on DWTS. Knowing that both Jenn and Sasha have been hurt in the past, it’s easy to root for them to find a Salsa partner for life.
Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber have been cagey about their flirty relationship
Jenn and Sasha were eliminated during “Halloween Nightmares” night on October 29, 2024. They finished in seventh place. It was a shame because Jenn was really improving.
“So, I’m walking away with a new family that I didn’t know that I had, and such an incredible man who I got to meet by [a] twist of fate,” Jenn told People. “Everyday rehearsal is such a blessing and we got to have so much fun together, and it’s just been an incredible, incredible journey and I’m just so proud and happy,” she added.
In fact, Jenn is actually living at Sasha’s home. “Right now I gotta find a place to live and that’s probably Sasha’s couch,” Jenn previously stated. But when she was asked if there was “dating potential” with her ballroom partner, Jenn played coy. “I can’t predict the future in any way,” Jenn said. However, she noted that they were “BFFs for life.” And the pair delights in posting TikToks teasing their relationship and showing them dancing.
Plus, Jenn credited Sasha with helping her move forward after her broken engagement. Personally, I think Jenn dodged a bullet when Devin ended their relationship. “To have such a good human and a good friend throughout the whole thing, I really feel like it was such a healing process for me,” Jenn said of Sasha. Plus, Jen will never be chilly because of Sasha’s extensive cardigan collection…
The DWTS judges and pros commented on Jenn and Sasha’s chemistry
Jenn posted a video to TikTok after her DWTS elimination, showing her knocking on Sasha’s door. He opened the door with a big smile. Then Jenn wrapped her arms around him as they embraced. The clip was set to narration which said, “When one door closes another door opens. We so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the ones that open for us.” Jenn captioned the video, “Private rehearsals starting ASAP #DWTS.”
Some of the DWTS family weighed in on Jenn’s post. Judge Derek Hough wrote, “I give this a 100 … happy for you two.” He added a smiley face and heart emoji. New pro Ezra Sosa posted, “This is so cute,” and “i ship it.” Fans also shared their thoughts about the dancing duo. “BABE IS THIS A SOFT LAUNCH,” one wrote, referencing how they often referred to each other as “babe.”
Of course, Derek had shipped Sasha and Jenn’s relationship earlier in the season. During Disney night, Jenn and Sasha performed a Rumba to the song Kiss the Girl from the film Little Mermaid. “Is it weird for me to say that I ship this?” he commented. “I don’t know.”
Fellow judge Carrie Ann Inaba also commented on the couple’s chemistry in the ballroom. “Sasha and Jenn have a really great connection,” she stated. She added, “They complement each other really well.”
I’m shipping this duo because they have fun together. I also love how Sasha has continued to teach Jenn to dance. Plus, they both deserve a win in the love department. So, I give them a solid 10 as a couple.
