Following Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4, the future of one series’ regular was in question. Things grew sticky on deck once a member of the production team accused Gary King, the First Mate since Season 2, of sexual misconduct during filming. As the suits fleshed this mess out, fans began to speculate if Gary would receive a massive edit in Season 5, as this issue came into play once filming for Season 5 had already transpired. Season 5 is now airing, and an editing on aisle Gary does seem to be in place. On this decision, Gary has some words he would like to say.
Gary King is speaking out about his edit on BDSY, following sexual misconduct allegations on set
The sexual misconduct allegations against Gary were alarming. The network agreed. They immediately canceled Gary from showing his face at their 2023 BravoCon event. And then, Bravo set to work, trying to figure out how to move forward on BDSY Season 5.
If you ask Gary how Season 5 is showing thus far, he will tell you that Bravo dealt with him via an unnecessary edit. “Sad to see this has all been edited out of tonight’s episode. Scary how ones persons lies can ruin someone’s career and livelihood,” he quickly penned on Instagram, throwing caution to grammatical winds while donning a lacy black nightie in his chosen image from filming.
No one wants to see BDSY sink. Therefore, Gary might indeed be getting an edit-him-out job. Or perhaps these cut scenes were meh, so off they went. As we are only a few episodes in, Gary’s future screen time is uncertain, as is his future in general on this series.
Either way, Gary is sticking to his grammatically flawed guns. He is innocent, he states. “Oh well my head is held I’m high as I know the truth. Karma will get ya, anyways,” he wrote.
If seeing less of Gary makes you grumpy, no worries. Moving forward, Gary “will try [to] post as much as possible to show” us what we have all been missing “out on.” Thanks, Gary.
But will he be able to salvage any semblance of a healthy working relationship with Daisy Kelliher? So far, these odds are not in his favor.
