Why Emily Simpson Is the Perfect RHOC Housewife

Of all the Real Housewives of Orange County cast, Emily Simpson has always seemed pretty put together. The lawyer rarely drinks except for a glass of champagne here or there. She rarely yells unless confronted with Kelly Dodd’s asinine comments. And for the most part, she can get along with the rest of the group. Emily joined the cast in 2018 during Season 13 and, at first, left fans a bit perplexed. She was married to a Mormon, even though she hadn’t converted.

Viewers watched as she struggled with the decision to have another child. She desperately wanted another daughter, but her husband seemed to be at his wit’s end. A lot of Emily’s confusing storyline/perception is due to her turbulent relationship with her mom. But underneath all the mess and plastic surgery, Emily makes for one hell of a housewife. I don’t think I will ever tire of watching Emily stir the pot. So here’s why I think she makes for such good reality TV.

Emily Simpson is unbothered

One thing is for sure: Emily is great at creating drama within the group. She once joked, “If there wasn’t so much sh*t, I wouldn’t have anything to stir. It’s like the chicken or the egg. Which came first? The sh*t comes first.” Emily is our “Unbothered Barbie.” She doesn’t let the opinions of others affect her daily life. For example, while everyone is hiding from their participation on the Ozempic bandwagon, Emily embraced it.

The Real Housewives of Orange County star has shared her weight loss journey with fans, even if some don’t agree with it. She has also been open about what procedures she has undergone to help her reach her goal weight. So, while others have plenty to say, Emily is more of a wait-and-see kind of girl. But when she attacks, she doesn’t hold back.

Emily Simpson is funny

One of the best things about Emily is that she doesn’t take herself too seriously in life. One of my favorite scenes is when she is making fun of Shannon Beador. The Real for Real founder came under attack for being a crappy friend, and Emily thought it was the perfect time to mock her gestures. The lawyer poked at “Fun Shannon” as she commented on her drinking. Emily couldn’t help herself as she made exaggerated hand gestures. The pantomime was hilarious, and it even caused Vicki Gunvalson to chuckle.

During Heather Dubrow’s logo party, Emily wasted no time in calling out Fancy Pants for literally monogramming everything! The mother of three said something along the lines of whether Heather was going to monogram her forehead with HD. I spat my pinot grigio out. Nobody loves putting her name on shit more than Heather, and I love how Emily called her out with a side of humor.

Emily Simpson isn’t afraid to go a few rounds

Perhaps what makes Emily a great housewife is she isn’t afraid to piss someone off. There is already a clear divide between Real Housewives of Orange County fans. But what amazes me is her ability to tell one of her cast members that they’re dumb. One thing is for sure, never call Shane Simpson a “little bitch.” Or you will have the wrath of Emily fall upon you. While it probably wasn’t smart to threaten “to kill” a former housewife, Emily got her point across loud and clear.

Emily also usually stands up for the underdog. For example, when Alexis Bellino was picking apart Shannon’s relationship with John Janssen, Emily was the one taking the blonde’s side. Emily is the tell-it-like-it-is housewife who has left fans with a polarizing opinion of her. Love her or hate her is coming in hot with her Season 18 antics. It would be nice to see Emily stand on her own and not always be paired with Gina Kirschenheiter. But for now, Emily is pretty perfect and, if anything, should do more impressions of the other ladies because, obviously, housewives love to be made fun of.

Real Housewives of Orange County is now streaming on Peacock.
