The production company behind Love is Blind keeps winning in their legal battle with Season 5’s Renee Poche. According to her, the producers of the hit Netflix show matched her up with an unhinged and abusive partner, setting off a series of “traumatic” events that never actually made it to air.
Once she left LiB, Renee filed a lawsuit against Delirium TV, the production company behind the series. However, they hit back and said that she should be forced to resolve any issues through arbitration. Now, for a second time, the courts have sided with Delirium. It’s an unfortunate result for one of the many former participants who blew the whistle on their behind-the-scenes treatment.
It’s arbitration or nothing
In Renee’s original lawsuit, she accused Delirium TV of “inflicting intentional emotional distress” in addition to engaging in “unlawful employment practices.” The case became tricky because her contract with Netflix outlined that any issues would be handled through arbitration. Renee didn’t want to go through arbitration, arguing that it would “cause harm.”
A judge struck that down, so Renee quickly filed an appeal. She really wanted this case to go to court, but according to People, another judge just ruled that she must stick to the arbitration agreement. Her appeal failed, and someone at Delirium TV headquarters is manically laughing and rubbing their hands together. For them, everything is going according to plan.
Meanwhile, this whole situation continues to be a massive headache for Renee. In addition to the lawsuit, Delirium TV has demanded $4 million from her. She only got paid $8,000 for her nightmare experience on the show, but the production company felt she deserved a punishment for violating her NDA. At this point, Renee and her lawyers need to figure out how to make the most out of this crappy situation.
