Luann and Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake was an unexpected delight for fans. Real Housewives of New York alums Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan hit up the small town of Benton, Illinois. While there, they lived at a local motel and hung out with the normies. They also assisted the mayor with several projects, including having a talent show and adding a playground for the town. Even pop star and dancer Paula Abdul helped out with the talent show.
Honestly, just watching these out-of-their-element reality stars complete tasks, have unique experiences, and bond with the town’s residents was magical. Will anyone forget Luann pulling a huge catfish out of the lake with her bare hands? But I believe that the addition of their longtime friend, Dorinda Medley, could make the show even better. Here’s why Dorinda should join Sonja and Luann for Crappie Lake Season 2.
Dorinda has a history with Sonja and Luann
According to Page Six, there have been discussions about a second season of Welcome to Crappie Lake. But nothing has been confirmed yet. We need a second season, people!
Watching Luann chow down on testicles at The Testicle Festival was … interesting. Sonja dating Billy the trucker was perfection. And don’t get me started on this fearless duo wielding the bed bug spray while cleaning the motel rooms. Priceless!
As amazing as Season 1 was, maybe a little switch-up for the next season is in order. Dorinda has ties to both Luann and Sonja. Although they were all friends, there were times when Dorinda feuded with her former RHONY co-stars.
During Season 10 of the show, Dorinda was furious when Luann didn’t reserve a cabaret show ticket for Dorinda’s then-boyfriend, John Mahdessian. After all, Dorinda helped Luann get free Jovani outfits for the performance. A fired-up Dorinda spent the evening heckling Luann, yelling “Jovani!” repeatedly.
Plus, Sonja and Dorinda have also hit some rough patches in their friendship. Sonja was crushed when Dorinda rescinded Sonja’s invitation for Christmas at her estate, Blue Stone Manor. Sonja carried her hurt feelings into Season 9 of RHONY. It would be an interesting dynamic to include someone who is a friend, but who also isn’t afraid to rock the boat.
Dorinda is a wild card
After six memorable seasons on RHONY, Dorinda was asked to leave. Her final season was dark and contained alcohol-fueled rants. She told TODAY, “The good news is he didn’t use the word ‘fired.’” Dorinda was, of course, referring to producer Andy Cohen. “He used ‘pause’ because it seems so much kinder,” she added.
But she rebounded by hosting the second season of Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip at Blue Stone Manor. All the guests were former housewives. Once again, Dorinda displayed her distinctive blend of humor and fiery comments. After all, these ladies needed a good Doraerobics session in their lives. Unless you were named Tamra Judge or Vicki Gunvalson. They were benched for eating in their bedroom. Dorinda’s house – Dorinda’s rules!
Then viewers saw Dorinda on our screens again when she joined Sonja, Luann, Ramona Singer, Kristen Taekman, and Kelly Bensimon on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy. Dorinda and Kristen sparred during that series.
Meanwhile, Dorinda had a penchant for following her whims. She smashed her face in her birthday cake, with the candles lit. Repeatedly. Just to get her RHONY cast members to lighten up. With Dorinda, you never know what you are going to get, which is why she would be a hilarious addition to Crappie Lake.
She always delivers the drama
Dorinda can always be counted on to show up and show out. Her iconic rant at Blue Stone Manor in the Berkshires lives rent-free in my brain. After Luann and Ramona Singer poked fun at Dorinda’s birthday cake, Dorinda had a meltdown. “I decorated. I cooked,” she said, before adding, “I made it nice!” Then she told her house guests that they should leave. Thankfully, the cast stayed for more chaos.
Meanwhile, Season 3 of The Traitors will feature Dorinda competing for the cash prize. She is hanging out with Alan Cumming in that Scottish castle, trying to oust The Traitors. Dorinda will bring the fire to The Round Table.
While Crappie Lake was fun and light-hearted, a dash of drama in the mix wouldn’t hurt. That is why Dorinda should join Sonja and Luann for Crappie Lake Season 2.
