Scheana Shay Says Alex Baskin Warned Pump Rules Would Be Canceled Amid Season 11 Filming

Vanderpump Rules fans have some feelings about Season 11. The third part of the reunion shocked the cast members, and viewers when the cast had to watch the final few moments together. So, we saw the Pump Rules gang reacting to the action in real-time. And it was an awful time for Ariana Madix. She watched Lala Kent and Tom Sandoval rage at her because she left without speaking with him. And Scheana Shay was, as usual, stuck in the middle.

For some reason, producers made this decision, and it looked like they targeted Ariana. But was the drama forced in Season 11? According to Scheana, it was allegedly drama on demand, at the request of producer Alex Baskin.

Was the cast threatened with Pump Rules being canceled?

@Bravoandy posted a clip on X from the Breaking the Rules podcast. In the clip, Scheana mentioned a discussion with Alex. “I know Alex Baskin has said that mid-season like the show was not in a good place. It was, ‘You know XYZ needs to happen or we’re gonna have a short season and the show’s gonna be canceled. That’s it. Go live your lives,'” Scheana stated.

“I think Lala and I felt a lot of pressure after that day when it was like, well, we don’t want the show to get canceled. You know, and not just for ourselves and our families but like there’s a crew of I don’t know 80 … 100 people who work on the show.” She continued, “And I said this at the reunion, which you didn’t see, but I was like, ‘I feel like we’re doing our jobs also for all of these people. Like, we wanna keep this going.’”

The clip was captioned, “So, basically, Alex Baskin (EP) told Lala and Scheana if Ariana is not activated or doesn’t film an explosive sit down with Tom, the season would be cut short and the show would be over.” The caption added, “Nasty work #PumpRules Credit: Breaking The Rules Podcast.”

Alex had previously said that Pump Rules was on borrowed time before Scandoval gave it a new life. Right now, filming for Season 12 is paused. VPR always shoots during the summer, so this is unprecedented. For now, we will have to wait to hear when the show will resume filming.

Vanderpump Rules is streaming on Peacock.
