Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are poised to make their reality TV comeback. Nicole’s dad and American Idol judge, Lionel Richie, has some feelings about The Simple Life stars making their grand return. In a nutshell, he’s telling people to hold on tight!
Few details have been released about the show and what to expect. But Paris and Nicole posted a teaser on social media with the caption, “New Era. Same Besties? Coming soon to Peacock,” and fans have eagerly been awaiting more.
Nothing’s changed
Many fans are hoping for the same fun dynamic in the new show, and according to PEOPLE, Lionel confirmed that they can expect more of the same from the best friends despite all the years that have passed since the show concluded in 2007.
“They are older, but they haven’t changed, trust me,” he said. He joked, adding, “Let me tell you something, those two scare me just standing next to each other.”
He also added that The Simple Life, which premiered in 2003, was one of the pioneers in the realm of reality TV. “I don’t know if the world knows this,” he said. “But they (Paris and Nicole) started this mess, and I was the first guinea pig daddy to go along with this.”
He recalled the times he was shocked following Nicole and Paris’ antics on the show and added, “When they first started doing things like driving down the freeway backward, I kept saying, ‘What are you two doing?’ and Nicole would say ‘It’s reality television dad.’ And now they are back together? Oh my god, world, hang on to your seat.”
He finished by saying he was glad to be older this time around, and hopefully, his medication will help him cope with this next phase of his daughter’s life. He wrapped up by sharing his heartfelt support for the two girls, saying, “I’m very happy for them.”
A Simple Life
The Simple Life saw Paris and Nicole traversing the country and picking up various odd jobs, such as working in a retirement home and getting down and dirty on a farm. No word yet on what the new series will be like, but with these two girls at the helm, it’s sure to be interesting.
