In a recent episode of Vanderpump Rules, Katie Maloney suggested that her ex-husband would wake up in a few years time and realize that she was the one that got away. It was also the episode during which Tom Schwartz suggested a one-night-stand with her.
So perhaps in the spirit of regrets and looking back on what could have been done differently, the Schwartz & Sandy’s co-owner responded to the query regarding his former marriage.
Schwartz admitted that he could have been a “better listener” during his relationship with Katie
During an segment of Cheap Shots with Cosmo, Schwartz reflected on his dynamic with Katie. Pump Rules fans will recall how the Something About Her co-owner never felt like her husband had her back. There was constant pull between herself and Schwartz’s bestie, Tom Sandoval.
“When you were with Katie, what are three things you could have done better in that relationship?” the producer asked Tom.
“Let her feel her feelings and validate them, before trying to confront them with logic,” he replied. “I think I was too quick to do that. Like too solution oriented. As opposed to just letting her feel her feelings and getting it all out. I guess be a better listener. Not get drunk and make out with strangers on a regular basis.”
Schwartz then took a shot and asked the producer, “Did I have to do that?”
These are points that Katie was making relentlessly for years. It’s all a little too late, but perhaps his ex-wife has some comfort in being proved right.
Meanwhile, the duo have both moved on from each other romantically-speaking. Jo Wenberg was a particularly messy episode in Schwartz’s post-divorce love life.
For her part, Katie has been actively dating. She spoke about how being a reality TV star puts her at a disadvantage when putting herself out there. But that didn’t stop both her and Schwartz enjoying a silly love triangle during Season 11.
