The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alum Monica Garcia was pretty good at keeping secrets. Viewers may remember that she was unveiled as part of the snark account, Reality Von Tease. But her contentious relationship with her mom, Linda Darnell, was on full display on RHOSLC.
Monica and Linda’s relationship seems, well, toxic. The duo fought at co-star Angie Katsanevas’ Greek Easter celebration. And at the Season 4 reunion, Monica shared that her mother left her with a family friend when she was just 12 years old. She also said that Linda prayed that if Monica flubbed her audition, Linda would get the role instead. Monica’s mother disagreed with her daughter’s version of events. “Everything Monica says about me is a lie or half-truth,” Linda stated.
So, one might wonder why Monica decided to bring her family squabbles on RHOSLC. “My mother is very up and down. When we started filming, we were in an okay place,” she explained. “I wanted the opportunity to show my Portuguese side, with my grandmother and my mom, and the fact that they literally lived 10 seconds away.”

Monica was a guest on Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files. And she gave an update on her relationship with her mother. Spoiler alert: It’s not good. “My mom and I are done. We’re done. I will never speak to her again,” Monica said.
Linda and Monica last spoke “a couple months” ago. “The last thing she said to me was, ‘You no longer have a mother and I no longer have a daughter,'” the former RHOSLC star shared.
“It’s so different when you actually are watching it versus living it, ’cause growing up, that was normal. But then actually witnessing it and hearing everybody and getting all these messages from people, I’m like, you know, this is really like f*cking f*cked up,” Monica stated.
After all, Monica should be focused on her good news. She is pregnant with her fifth child with her not-so-secret boyfriend, Braxton Knight.
Perhaps, due to the level of toxicity in her relationship with her mom, making a break is for the best.
