Jill Zarin is putting her former friendship with Below Deck’s Chief Stew Fraser Olender on ice.
Fans are calling the Real Housewives of New York alum “absolutely insufferable” and “a demanding asshole” after her appearance as a charter guest on Below Deck earlier this month. Even though she was friendly with Fraser, she’s upset that he has yet to defend her on social media in the wake of her debut.
“Fraser and I … kept in touch for a year,” Jill said. “But after that, I never want to talk to him. Not at all up until this week.”
Thought they were friends
As a result, the Jill Zarin Home founder is finished with Fraser and has no plans to continue any friendship with him. “I’m done,” Jill told Us Weekly on April 12. “He doesn’t want to listen. I tried to reach out with him on Instagram. He just said, ‘I feel bad that you are getting a lot of hate, and you don’t deserve it.’ And I said, ‘Well, can you say something?’ And he ignored it.”
During her two-day stay on the St. David Motor Yacht, Jill was quick to offer her opinion on everything from the ice in her never-ending Diet Cokes to the availability of toiletries in the yacht’s cabins, to the food. Stew Barbie Pascual called Jill’s incessant demands “overwhelming,” though she’s since changed her stance.
“Barbie [defended me]. So did Kyle [Viljoen] from Below Deck Mediterranean. He came out and said, ‘What Jill asked for was not unreasonable. She was not being mean. She was not disrespectful,’” Jill mentioned. “In fact, quite the contrary. I kept saying how Captain Kerry shouldn’t be bothered with this, and the captain shouldn’t be bothered with that.”
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Frasier’s response on-camera when the episodes aired shocked her, as the Chief Stew said he “just hated Jill” and not the other guests. “I had a great time with Fraser,” the mom of one shared. “We laughed … We had a great time. I had a great time with Barbie. I think that they’re making a good TV show.”
“After I got off the boat, I DMed Fraser,” she added. “I said, ‘Thank you so much for the most amazing time. We had the best time ever. Love to stay in touch.’”
Of course, the former Bravolebrity used the opportunity to include a list of areas the crew could improve on. She’s relentless.
“He wrote back,” Jill said. “‘Thank you so much. Let’s stay in touch. Love to see you again.’”
“Did he ever complain about me or say, ‘I don’t ever want to talk to her?’ [No], because I was nice,” she added.
Before the episodes aired, Fraser was complimentary of Jill. “She’s sweet. She’s very lovely and very funny — but demanding,” he said in February. “[But] all guests are demanding. They’re charter guests, and they’ve got their preferences, and sometimes they can be frustrating.”
Below Deck continues Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.
