Perhaps the Overtones should stick to hanging with Mrs. Eastwood & Company and leave the driving to those who can stay on the road. Last Thursday, an Escalade driving down 17 Mile Drive in Pebble Beach lost control and went careening out across the beach and into the ocean…at 11:15 in the morning. An eyewitness says that the SUV was speeding down the scenic highway.
Now, the driver of that SUV has been identified as Valentino “Tino” Ponsonby. Tino is a talented beat boxer who is part of the Overtones A cappella group, which is managed by Dina Eastwood…you may have heard of her. Her husband Clint is supposedly legitimately famous…you know, for actual talent. 🙂

A local news station from Pebble Beach has the details. KSBW reports that after the car crashed into the waves, Tino was able to wade through four-feet of water to safety. He suffered from moderate injuries, and, not shockingly, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. The singer spent Thursday being treated at a local hospital.
The witness who called 911 told the dispatcher he thought the driver was trying to kill himself by driving into the ocean. However, highway patrol maintained that the crash was accidental and caused by Tino’s intoxication. An officer tells the station, “This is not the first time this happened in this area. Those are sharp turns, so there is not a large margin for error.”
The Escalade was leaking fuel into the ocean, and crews worked to quickly retrieve the vehicle before it could float away.
Dina Eastwood brought the South African band to live with her family in California after discovering them in Johannesburg when her husband was there directing a movie.
A very big thanks to Reality Tea reader Katrina for the story lead!
