From a super early age, American youth are put through the DARE program. It’s supposed to teach us how bad smoking and drinking are for us. One of the most iconic lessons we learn is never to drink and drive. Or get into a vehicle with a driver who is intoxicated. But some people feel they are invincible or just haven’t ingested enough alcohol to blow an illegal level. Bravo stars are held to the same standard. But when they mess up, it is usually in a big way and caught by the cameras. And sometimes they mess up on their own. Karen Huger and Shannon Beador have entered the chat.
Karen Huger
The Grand Dame is the most recent Bravoleb caught and charged with driving under the influence. Earlier this week, it was reported that Karen had found herself in a serious car crash. People reported that the 60-year-old was driving her 2017 Maserati when the Montgomery County Police Department stopped her. It was then she was charged with driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Karen has since spoken to TMZ. She said, “Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes during this very frightening experience. I am still in shock from last night’s incident but grateful to be alive today. With the passing of my Beloved Mother, Grief comes and goes in waves, and with Mother’s Day approaching, it has felt more like a tsunami.”
Shannon Beador
Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon had a rough year, including being charged with two misdemeanors by the Orange County District Attorney. The mother of three faced one count of DUI and one count of hit and run. But both were dismissed during a hearing. According to TMZ, Shannon’s blood alcohol level was .24, which is three times the legal limit when in her car.
The doorbell video caught Shannon making a wide turn and colliding with a neighbor’s property. Along for the ride was her dog Archie. The video also showed the Bravo star at first pretending to walk her dog away from the scene of the crime and allegedly abandoning her car in the middle of the road back in September 2023. She has now been sentenced to three years probation and community service.
PK Kemsley
One month after his wife’s terrifying home invasion, PK Kemsley found himself in trouble with the law after he was arrested for a DUI. While driving on the 101, cops pulled PK over. According to the Daily Mail, he blew a .081 during a Breathalyzer test. He was later taken home by the police after blowing a .073. At the time, PK’s lawyer released a statement via People saying, “While out with a business colleague, PK consumed a glass of wine with dinner. Following a traffic stop, it was determined that he may have been close to the legal limit. He regrets the fact he did not take alternate transportation home that evening.”
Ariana Biermann
The Don’t Be Tardy star always seemed the most down to earth, but Ariana Biermann proved she doesn’t always make the right decision when she got into a fender bender. According to Us Weekly and her attorney, Justin Spizman
“Ariana was involved in a minor fender bender. When police arrived on the scene, the investigating officer immediately initiated an investigation for DUI. Despite Ariana’s constant invocation that she was upset and anxious from the minor accident, the officer incorrectly concluded she was impaired by alcohol. That was not the case.”
However, the police report told a different story as the officer wrote, “I advised that I could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath. She stated the odor was possibly from her clothing. Ariana stated she had smoked a THC vape pen the night before but did not drink.” Ariana was officially charged with a DUI in August 2022.
Other alcohol-related arrests
Gosh, I loved watching Luann de Lesseps fall into a bush, but it was no laughing matter when she was arrested in Palm Springs back in 2018 when she was intoxicated for telling the officers, “I’m going to kill you all.” The Countess’ co-stars, Tinsley Mortimer and Sonja Morgan, also had their moment in the slammer. Tinsley was arrested for trespassing, and Sonja was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated in Southampton in 2010 and not wearing a seatbelt.
Gina Kirschenheiter of the Real Housewives of Orange County was arrested in 2019 for DUI, and her neighbor to the north, Kim Richards, who now is sober, was once arrested and charged with public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer, and battery on a police officer. Needless to say, there might be a pandemic on our hands when it comes to the Real Housewives and drinking.
