So You Think You Can Dance star and judge Stephen “tWitch” Boss took his own life in December 2022. His loss was shocking and heartbreaking. He was married to Allison Holker, who also appeared on SYTYCD and Dancing with the Stars.
The couple met on SYTYCD and were married in 2013. Stephen and Allison had three children. On January 4, 2023, he was laid to rest.
Now, Allison is keeping her husband’s legacy alive by taking a seat at the judges’ table for Season 18 of SYTYCD. She is joined by fellow judge, DWTS alum Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Comfort Fodoke, who was also a contestant and All-Star on the show.
A sweet tribute to “tWitch”
During the season premiere, contestant Jin Lee Baobei shared that her father had passed away. After her performance, she spoke directly to Allison. She thanked and praised Allison for “continuing to be a light” after “tWitch’s” loss.
Allison was trying to hold back tears as she responded. “I appreciate you saying that so much. It is not an easy journey for anyone,” Allison said.
“Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss was and will forever be an icon [and] a legend because he was truly the best at what he did. But also because he brought out the best in everyone around him,” she stated.
Allison continued, “To this day, for me, my children, and everyone here, he’s still doing that. And how we honor him is by giving that light back.” She added, “Because that’s what he would want too.”
A video montage of “tWitch” played onscreen from his SYTYCD performances. Then a single photo of him appeared, with the caption, “Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss 1982-2022.” It was a touching tribute.
The magic and joy that Stephen created will never be forgotten.
