Some Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans were understandably upset when they saw the trailer for Buying Beverly Hills Season 2. The trailer featured Kyle Richards’ and Mauricio Umansky’s marital troubles on full display.
That bothered viewers because many stuck with RHOBH Season 13 to get to the drama between the separated couple. That drama was arguably left undelivered, despite the finale featuring the much-anticipated sit-down with the Richards/Umansky children.
When the trailer for Netflix’s Buying Beverly Hills Season 2 dropped, it seemed to be the RHOBH Season 13 that fans were always hoping for. So, what’s the deal? Did Bravo draw the short stick? Kyle decided to explain.
Are Netflix and Bravo milking Kyle’s marital drama?
During an Amazon Live, Kyle told fans that the decision to separate “happened after we were done filming” for Season 13. Fans will recall that Bravo picked cameras back up once news of the marital troubles broke. Kyle said, “The story came out, and then the Netflix cameras happened to be in Aspen.”
As such, Netflix “ended up filming with us talking about it.” Still, Kyle felt a measure of loyalty to Bravo and tried to document things for RHOBH. She explained, “Obviously, Bravo has been following my life for 13 years. It’s not like [Netflix] can film that scene [for Buying Beverly Hills] and then I don’t share it with the viewers of The Housewives.”
Kyle added, “We ended up shooting both of those scenes for Buying Beverly Hills and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after we were all wrapped.” From a cynical consumer’s point of view, it sounds like fans must now have a Netflix subscription and access to Bravo to keep up with the couple. A fan has to wonder if it’s worth the hassle.
