Ann Maddox is Tom Sandoval’s assistant, and she is giving me life this season on Vanderpump Rules. This poor girl works for Tom, yet she also adores Ariana Madix, so her gig is the opposite of easy. Yet, Ann is navigating this stickiness with ease…mostly.
Overall, Ann is such a pro, and I’m sure that Tom appreciates her as well. Ann’s presence means that Tom has gained an extra willing human to film alongside for VPR. That said, Tom will likely have additional scene partners soon, as little by little, it just feels like Tom’s co-stars are starting to forgive him for his affair with Rachel Leviss.
Back to Ann. I know that we are only two episodes in. But I don’t care. I’m going to go ahead and label Ann as the new VIP of VPR, and I’ll tell you why now.
But First, Who Is Ann?
According to Ann’s LinkedIn, she started working at Tom Sandoval Inc. back in 2020. Prior to this, Ann worked behind the scenes in the entertainment industry, racking up different job experiences along the way. For starters, Ann most recently worked as a personal assistant to a private client in California. Before this, she served time as a post production assistant and even as a transcriber for various reality television series.
Sweet past-Ann. If you could see yourself today, working on-air as the handler of the man behind the Scandoval of it all, you’d probably tell yourself to run, eh? Or not. Live it up girl, and enjoy your very well-deserved screen time.
Ann Has the Patience of a Saint
As Ariana isn’t a massive fan of speaking to Tom, Ann is tasked as being their go-between. At the time of filming for Season 11, Ariana and Tom still lived in the same house, so Ann was working double-time trying to relay all of their messages in a timely manner. The levels of awkward here has no limits. For everyone involved, really.
For example, when Tom wanted to throw a birthday party in their home, he told Ann. Her response of “Oh…um…” made us laugh. Tom then told Ann that Ariana could come, if she wanted. “Hmm….I think she’ll be busy,” Ann kindly replied.
Tom then asked Ann to convey a message to Ariana. Basically, Tom wanted to let Ariana know that he would get her a nice hotel room that night, so that the house could be his. When Ann conveyed this message with a nervous laugh, Ariana immediately shot it down.
“That’s not happening. I think that’s very disrespectful and inappropriate. If he wants to have a party, he can have it somewhere else,” Ariana answered. Cue Ann, walking up the stairs to relay Ariana’s response to Tom, muttering “ This is so weird.”
In a different scene, Ariana texted Ann, writing “Please tell him to turn off the LED lights at night. It’s annoying the neighbors.” Texting back, Ann typed “He says they fall under his freedom of speech.” Poor Ann, as she’s clearly the VIP saint this season on VPR.
Ann Is Equally Respectful to Both Tom and Ariana
Ann’s been working alongside Tom for a while, so she was there long before his secretive affair storyline ever became a thing on Bravo. Due to this, Ann grew close with Ariana. Therefore, when the affair hit, Ann was left in the middle, like a child caught up in their parent’s divorce.
Now, Ann has a podcast that’s cheekily called We Signed An NDA. She is joined here by Amanda Lifford, who used to co-host Nick Viall‘s podcast. In their new venture, Ann elaborated on her disheartened feelings over this breakup.
“I was crushed because as a personal assistant, you become part of your bosses’ lives. And it’s no secret that I dearly love Ariana. She’s incredible and so cool. And the three of us would hang, and there’d be times where I would have to, for work, stay later and you start feeling kind of like a family a little bit, and you become really close,” Ann shared, clearly pained.
Overall, Ann has been nothing but kind towards these two. She’s the VIP, because no one else has been able to maintain such highly positive interactions with both parties as of late.
Beyond Her Patience, Ann Is Hysterical
Ann is a regular performer at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater in LA. Likewise, Ariana has also performed here, because Ariana takes “sketch comedy very seriously.” I’ve said it before, but because I’m a literal soccer mom now, lemme just relive my glory days by adding once more that I too have performed on this stage, just in NYC. On that note, from my sources who are still in the improv world, “Ann’s hysterical.”
We’ve seen glimpses of her wit on-air. From her “really fast thumbs,” to her faces made while smiling, which scream “get me the f outta here,” Ann is our favorite face on VPR.
Ann Is Now Spilling Gentle Drops of Scandoval Tea
When Rachel was in Arizona, she would send mail to Tom Schwartz for Sandoval. Then, Schwartz realized his role was toxic, so Sandoval told Rachel to go ahead and send things to him direct, as his “assistant would get it.”
“My response to that is, ‘B*tch, I don’t work on Saturdays!’ I’m your girl Friday, but I don’t work on Saturdays…Also, Ariana wakes up way earlier than all of us because she is a busy, busy lady, and I don’t come into work until 11:00 a.m, so if the mail’s delivered before then, sorry,” was Ann’s response via her podcast.
On a kind note, Ann has yet to trash Sandoval, and we doubt she ever will. To correct one matter though, Schwartz reveled that Sandoval’s assistant resigned, but online, Ann clarified that this was a different assistant. However, when asked if she was still Tom’s employee, Ann only vaguely responded with emojis.
Whatever her current gig is, Ann remains my VIP pick for VPR Season 11.
