A viewer almost has to feel bad for reality TV newcomers whose debut seasons were flops. Was it Jessika Asai’s fault that Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8 was panned? Not necessarily. But does that affect her future with reality TV? Almost certainly. Jessika recently took to IG to share some thoughts about the season and herself.
Would Jessika Asai do Below Deck again?
On January 23, Jess made an Instagram post reflecting on the BDM Season 8 finale. She wrote, “Finally closing the chapter on the most dramatic season of my life! Throughout this rollercoaster ride, I’ve experienced more drama than I ever thought possible, and I’m relieved that I don’t have to relive it anymore.”
She then expressed gratitude for the good moments: “But amidst the chaos, I’m genuinely grateful for the incredible people I’ve met and the memories we’ve made together.”
Jess continued with some self-reflection, writing, “As you may or may not have witnessed, the season finale was nothing short of insane. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve made my fair share of mistakes, and I’m not perfect. I’ve learned that I often act on impulse, but I’m actively working on growing from those experiences rather than dwelling on them.”
She concluded, “I’m human, still learning, and committed to growing from it all. So here’s to new beginnings and the next chapter! Mahalo Nui Loa to everyone who has supported me through this journey. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.” When asked if she’d do another season, she replied, “This would take some heavy time to think about!”

But in good news for Jess, IG users were majorly on her side. A few of her crewmates popped into the comments to give their support. Captain Sandy Yawn wrote, “So proud of you! Loved having you on board ❤️” to which Jess responded, “thank you Captain, you are such an inspiring woman! Hope we can cross paths again soon❤️.”
Tumi Mhlongo also wrote, “Love you so much my Jess ❤️,” with Jess responding, “love you lots Tumi❤️.” More than that, however, fans couldn’t help but rally around Jessika when comparing her to her castmates. As one user wrote: “When I think of who was a hot mess it wasn’t you.”
Another commenter conceded, “Last episode you were a hot mess,” but added, “you’re human and young, we all do questionable things sometimes and most of us aren’t videoed and ridiculed whilst it happens … that aside, you were one of my favs this season.” Moreover, fans couldn’t help but think that Jess had been exploited by her crewmates and production.
One fan expressed, “I felt sick tonight watching how drunk you were & how you were taken advantage of. Very disappointed in producers for not stepping in … I’m glad you’re ok & that you’re wise enough to learn. We all make mistakes.” Another fan agreed, adding, “I didn’t see where she was sober enough to make informed decisions.”
