The dust has settled from the Southern Charm Season 9 finale, and there’s been time to analyze where the cast left off. The hottest topic through this season was the dynamic between Olivia Flowers and Taylor Ann Green. Needless to say, the two are not speaking currently.
Here’s a bit of a roundup of what was said between the cast.
The girls are keeping Taylor “at arm’s length”
The guys of the season fared better than some of the Southern Charm ladies. Craig Conover and Austen Kroll remain besties. Though the Pillows and Beer podcast co-hosts are both taking a breather from Shep Rose.
Craig is keeping his friend at arm’s length while Shep figures out his next step when it comes to his relationship with alcohol.
Meanwhile, Austen and the original Southern Charm star “needed a break” after the latter’s unfortunate state at BravoCon 2023.
“I only knew what I said in front of you. Watching other conversations, I was like he doesn’t even come close to getting it,” Shep explained. “This guy is in la la land as far as his [analysis] of himself and his actions. I just saw zero self-awareness.”
The only icy relationship among the men is between Austen and JT Thomas. The Season 9 newbie claimed he would execute a “f-k boy exorcism” on his nemesis and denied being responsible for their fight during the finale.
“It’s your first season so no one knows what a piece of shit you are. We know who you are,” Austen responded, before adding that he and JT “haven’t spoken.”
The exes seem to be doing alright as well. Shep and Taylor still have kind words for each other including the former saying, “I would be lying if I said I didn’t recently say, ‘I made a mistake.’ I’m scared to look back and say [she’s] the one who got away.”
Austen is cordial with all of Madison LeCroy, Taylor, and Olivia. The man is a legend. And even managed a vacation with Olivia and her new man Alex.
Farewell to a friendship
The meat of this discussion is Taylor versus the other ladies. Their friendships remain cold. Madison spoke of keeping her, “at arm’s length.”
“I don’t think any one of us hates you. I think we’re disappointed in your behavior. That has caused a major setback with the girls,” Venita Aspen added.
But the biggest takeaway is that Olivia and Taylor were not able to repair their friendship.
“I don’t think this friendship is salvageable, I was this close to not getting on the plane and coming up here,” Taylor said while in her dressing room.
“I genuinely didn’t know how to handle this situation. My whole intention was to come out and fix this,” Taylor addressed Olivia onstage. “Obviously, I know that this is probably not going to be the resolution. I hope that it is at some point.”
And while Olivia expressed empathy for Taylor’s brother passing away, she shut the door on any potential reconciliation.
“My heart breaks for you, honestly, every single day with what you and your family are going through,” Olivia replied. “I’m even more sad that I couldn’t be there for you. I don’t ever wish bad on you, I hated this for you. I don’t like that this is all happening.”
She concluded, “That is not happening. I will not be friends with you. But I’m not going to make this miserable for you. I’m not going to be negative. We can move forward that doesn’t necessarily mean together.”
