As soon as the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 finale aired, fans knew they were watching history unfold. Viewers were stunned as Heather Gay delivered an Emmy-worthy verbal exposé of Monica Garcia.
Bravo, to their credit, must’ve known they had gold on their hands with such an unprecedented turn of events. Given the high drama, it made sense that rumors started popping up as to whether Heather had rehearsed her comments in the finale.
Still, Bravo maintains that it was pure passion on Heather’s part. With online conversations dominated by Heather and the RHOSLC finale, the discussion quickly turned to whether the star could achieve some kind of worthy recognition.
Why Heather should win an Emmy (and why she can’t)
At the January 15 Emmy Awards Ceremony, a reporter from E! News spoke with comedian Joel Kim Booster. Joel spoke about his love for television across the board, so, the interviewer asked him if he saw the RHOSLC finale. Joel inhaled sharply and tilted his head back, saying, “Oh my goodness. I have seen it, of course.”
He continued, “I have absorbed it. I’ve seen it three times. I’ve taken notes. I’m writing books about it.” Jokes aside, he said, “Listen, if anyone should be getting an Emmy this year,” the interviewer knew exactly what he was going to say, finishing his sentence for him: “It’s Heather Gay.”
Joel went on, “Heather. Gay. That scene on the beach, she gathered those girls up, and she blew the roof off of that season.” Given the current Emmy categories at the main awards show, there’s unfortunately no category in which Heather could win, despite delivering some outstanding TV this year. So, here’s hoping for Heather’s sake that the Emmys acknowledge reality TV more next year.
