Everything That’s Delayed Something About Her Opening

Sometimes, all you want is a delicious, freshly-made sandwich that you can sink your teeth into. Maybe some focaccia bread with crafted meats, but here I am, still waiting for Los Angeles’ newest sandwich shop, Something About Her, to open. The brainchild of Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney failed to launch and has been in limbo for some time now. So what’s the reason for the delayed Something bout Her opening? Because I really, REALLY want a damn artesian sandwich made by the Vanderpump Rules stars. Between all the hoops they are having to jump through, some fans are losing hope that it will ever open.

Bravo fans first learned about the sandwich shop in Season 10 when the two friends started making their business plan. They found backers and even had Lisa Vanderpump on their side. The location was scouted, and a soft launch was had during the Season 10 finale. Everyone seemed on board and delighted with the food, so where has it all gone wrong for the motivated women?

It seems like the former SUR bartender has a packed schedule as she has committed to multiple ventures. Ariana just finished up her stint on Dancing with the Stars, and even though she didn’t come out holding the Mirror Ball Trophy she did capture fans heats. Now, starting at the end of January, Ariana will be starring in Chicago as Roxie Hart on Broadway. This means for a couple of months, the author will be living in New York City, away from her unopened business.

Rules Are Rules

Okay, people, before we all lose our minds about signs being taken down at Something About Her, as reported by The U.S. Sun, let’s remember that there are so many layers to restaurant regulation. After all, each city, county, and state has its own laws.

In 2021, West Hollywood decided to temporarily shut down a portion of Robertson Boulevard, which is where SAH is located, to vehicle traffic so businesses could take advantage of the city’s temporary outdoor expansion permit program. I know this because I lived in Sherman Oaks and was thrilled to be able to run down the middle of the street like Kelly Bensimon on her jogs in the Big Apple.

Shortly after we rang in the New Year, West Hollywood decided that the program would end because the pandemic had been declared over. Due to this, the sidewalk is now no longer extended eating, and the permit rules for the street changed. Something About Her now has to abide by the new rules, hence the new construction on the property and awning. Sadly, according to the outlet, Ariana and Katie learned after remodeling, “that permit laws had changed, and they had to take down their sign and break down the entire front patio.”

The Floor Isn’t up to Code

A source also told the news outlet that the health department has told the owners that a new floor would be needed because it is not for open food use. This meant that Ariana and Katie had to have the entire floor pulled up. But with that comes the furniture and fixtures. It was also noted that the refrigerator wasn’t put in correctly. The source shared, “So now, all of a sudden, after spending $300,000 on a build-out, they have to redo everything, is what apparently is going on. It’s a cluster f*ck. It’s a lot of back and forth with city officials.”

Starting your own food business was never going to be easy, but could Ariana and Katie bitten off more than they could chew? Fans are more than ready to start lining up for their chance to say they ate at the posh eatery. However, it doesn’t look or feel like Something About Her will be opening up anytime soon.

Maybe Ariana and Katie are getting a taste of what their exes had to go through when opening up Tom Tom. Either way, the venture is starting to feel like a jinx, as their liquor license is also still pending.

TELL US – DO YOU BELIEVE THAT SOMETHING ABOUT HER WILL OPEN THIS YEAR? OR HAVE THEY BITTEN OFF MORE THAN THEY CAN CHEW?
