Lisa had everyone, except Heather Gay, on their hands and knees in a public restroom looking for the accessory. Monica Garcia, at one point, even said she had her hand in a tampon receptacle. It was surprising to see the RHOSLC rookie dedicating so much energy to helping out her frienemy, especially when they hadn’t gotten off on the right foot. In the episode where Lisa lost her ring, Monica prided herself on searching for the missing jewelry. “I put my hand in the trash looking for your ring,” she told Lisa. However, fans weren’t convinced of her selflessness. “I was extremely suspicious of her and the whole ring situation,” a fan wrote on Reddit. “She clearly resented Lisa off the bat, and her searching for the ring felt performative.”
Another RHOSLC viewer added, “She’s also weaponizing her divorce to remain relevant by starting beef with Lisa. Lisa lost a 60 grand ring regardless if she’s wealthy or not. That’s a huge loss in terms of money. Also, Monica, you aren’t poor, let’s be real. If she was poor, she wouldn’t be on Real Housewives.”
Fans felt her attitude on the subject became insufferable, and it made them more inclined to doubt Monica from the get-go.
Fans Think Monica Had Motive
From day one, Monica came onto the scene, bragging that she knew everyone’s history. She aptly noted in her tagline, “I keep my friends close, but my secrets closer.” Turns out, she wasn’t lying. It was revealed in the RHOSLC Season 4 finale that she was the online troll who had been bullying the cast for years.
In another confessional, the mother of four gloated, “It is so crazy hearing them portraying these perfect lives. We’ve all heard things about each other thanks to Jen [Shah]. So I’m like trying to walk this fine line of being open-minded and non-judgmental even though all their dark secrets are very heavy on my mind.”
Honestly, Monica never exactly seemed like she was friends with the other women. Instead, she appeared to have an agenda from the minute she became a Housewife. If Monica never had any intention of being a true friend to her castmates, she probably wouldn’t feel too bad about stealing from them.
Reality Von Tease Made Fans Question Monica
After Monica was revealed to be behind the social media account, Reality Von Tease viewers started to reexamine her past behavior, and a major theory was developed. Honestly, someone get these followers a Scooby Snack. Monica was one of the most outspoken when it came to Lisa losing her beloved ring. But this behavior actually drew attention to her.
After the incident, Monica spoke with E!, saying, “I was just trying to explain like, ‘That’s amazing, you can afford that. Go on, baby girl. I love that for you, but just be aware of how it looks when you’re only talking about the price of things.’ That’s all I was trying to say.”
Some thought Monica was trying to garner sympathy. However, it could have been more than that. Earlier in the season, Monica cried about being forced to buy a $5,000 Louis Vuitton bag just to fit in. Palming Lisa Barlow’s ring could have ended a lot of her money issues, according to fans. If Monica had come across the ring while helping Lisa look for it, she could have easily pocketed it while pretending to keep searching. Monica has often denied she took Lisa’s prized $60K ring. Whether you believe it or not, this seems to be the truth. Lisa revealed at BravoCon 2023 that she was able to claim the insurance and buy herself a new ring. If an insurance company even had the slightest inkling the accessory was stolen, they wouldn’t have paid out on the claim.
Really, Monica’s only offense during the situation was how she constantly cried about being poor. Monica went way too hard when it came to talking about her co-stars’ pockets. Lisa didn’t have to care about Monica’s bad life choices and rightfully was more concerned about her ring that had presumably been flushed down the toilet.
