Monica Garcia has driven one wild ride on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4. She was initially introduced as the former assistant of Jen Shah, but quickly grew past her association to the former RHOSLC star.
Monica became so central to the show’s drama, that she ended up with first chair at the reunion. Of course, the discussion shifted from fan favoritism to suspicion, and that suspicion culminated in the Season 4 finale with some wild accusations against Monica.
She admitted to being part of the Reality Von Tease account, a page used to troll and take down the Housewives of SLC. This is unprecedented, to say the least, and fans have taken note. The Monica hate train is chugging along with more accusations every day.
Monica draws racial comparisons with faux headscarf, and was she “stalking” Jen Shah?
On January 2, Twitter user @MuriloHBueno posted two videos and one screenshot that weren’t great for Monica’s public image. The first video was a snippet from the RHOSLC Season 4 Reunion trailer, wherein Monica called Lisa Barlow a “jealous, bitter bitch.” Lisa fired back with, “You’re a mother with four kids, why are you driving by Jen Shah’s house?”
The screenshot appeared to be a DM from Monica outside of Jen’s house. She took a photo of the residence and the vehicles outside, writing, “movers at jen shahs house,” and “coach shahs car on the driveway.” Lisa showed up in the tweet’s replies, writing, “Don’t people realize I don’t lie?!!!”
But that was just the tip of the iceberg. The other video showed Monica wearing a t-shirt over her head, saying, “I’m in disguise driving by Jen’s house. Lowkey, I think I might have found my father’s actual descent.” As Murilo wrote in his tweet, “It’s the stalking for me, it’s the cultural appropriation with the hijab for me, like for what?” Not a good look.
Some Twitter users tried to defend Monica, saying the “cultural appropriation” claim was “reaching.” Another user pointed out her carmate was singing “Matchmaker” from Fiddler on the Roof, trying to remove any racial implications. But for Monica to have brought up her “father’s actual descent,” she brought any ill will on herself.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 reunion will air Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
