The Golden Bachelor groom-to-be Gerry Turner and his soon-to-be bride Theresa Nist spent their holidays separately this year.
The engaged couple opted to spend their last single Christmas with their respective families rather than together. Despite being apart for Santa’s big day, they already celebrated an early Christmas together with their families shortly following their engagement on November 30.
Gerry spent Christmas Eve in Indiana playing pickleball with friends. He joined his daughters, Angie and Jenny, and his granddaughters, Charlee and Peyton, on Christmas Eve for a family sleepover. Meanwhile, Theresa was in New Jersey singing caroles with her siblings: Charlotte, Mary, and Vinny.
A very Gerry Christmas
Theresa captioned her holiday Instagram post, “A Very Merry (Gerry) Christmas from us to you!” Though she and Gerry were celebrating with their own families, she promised they would be “back together in just a few more days,” presumably for their wedding.
Next year, Gerry and Theresa hope to be celebrating together down South. Though they currently live in different states, they’ve already announced plans to start their married life in South Carolina.
Gary thinks “fate played a hand” in their potential relocation. “For the last couple of years … I’ve talked about moving to South Carolina,” he told People at the Golden Bachelor finale. “It’s an idea I’ve toyed with … Then in conversation with Theresa, a private moment, she’s saying, ‘Well, yeah, my son lives … in South Carolina.’” Theresa’s son Tommy and her three grandsons live in the Charleston area.
“And all of a sudden it’s like, there’s a big problem that is gone,” Gerry added. “The issue of compromising on where to live and how to reconcile families … it’s no longer an issue.”
The Golden Wedding airs January 4, 2024, at 8/7c on ABC.
