Tom Schwartz seemed mighty conflicted about his make-out sesh with Katie Flood. She rightfully called it when the party got home and the Vanderpump Rules star was rationalizing away the whole thing. Clearly, he’s still very concerned about being respectful of his ex-wife Katie Maloney.
But now that it’s happened, there’s damage control to do. Or is there? Did Katie have the same reaction to Tom’s kiss with the Below Deck Mediterranean chief stew as she did with Rachel Leviss? The Schwartz & Sandy’s co-owner revealed how his ex-wife reacted to the news.
Schwartz is “always rooting” for his ex-wife Katie
“She was very supportive,” Tom told E! News. “Somewhere in the back of my mind I thought she was going to be annoyed or just disappointed that I’d had a romance on camera. Even though at that point we had been separated for a year. And again a very healthy, amicable separation.”
There was an element of frustration with the publicity of Tom’s kiss with Rachel. But Katie seemed to accept what went down on Winter House Season 3.
“Okay there was a few bumps along the way, if you watched [Vanderpump] last season,” Tom explained. “But for the most part it’s all love with me and Katie and I’m always rooting for her. And she’s crushing life right now. It makes me happy to see her just thriving.”
Now that the chief stew and Tom did kiss, the question is if there is any longevity to their sparks.
“She’s obviously beautiful, on the surface,” he said of Katie. “But she has a great sensibility. She’s self-deprecating, she’s really funny. And she’s got a lot of humility, too. We kind of got a little spark going and we had some chemistry.”
But ultimately, the connection didn’t survive the physical distance.
“I think we’re really good friends,” Tom added. “We haven’t like friend-zoned each other, we stay in touch.”
