Taylor Swift may very well be the most powerful person in the world right now. Few could ever have as much financial, artistic, social, and sometimes even political influence. Some estimates suggest Swift has over $1 billion thanks to her fans.
With so much wealth and influence, Taylor is never locked down or backed into a corner. So, when Dancing with the Stars announced that it would be having a Taylor Swift night, it meant that Disney either paid her an obscene amount of money, or she simply wanted it to happen. The latter was the more likely case (though, Disney probably did still pay her a pretty penny).
Taylor is no stranger to DWTS, having performed on the show during Seasons 9, 11, and 15. As a friend of the show, it made sense for her to give the green light on a night dedicated to her music. She was so on board with the idea that she even showed up on everyone’s TV screens to give her endorsement.
Taylor Swift will be tuning in for Dancing with the Stars next week
At the end of the most recent show, Alfonso Ribeiro announced, “Next week, we’ve got a celebration of Taylor Swift. Here’s a special message.” From there, Taylor appeared on the ballroom’s screen, announcing, “I can’t wait to see Dancing with the Stars’ celebration of my Eras next week.”
She continued, “I wish I could be there with you guys but I’m on tour in Brazil, but I will be there in spirit and I’ll be watching.” As expected, the crowd went crazy for the announcement. Online, the buzz around the clip immediately started circulating. As it turns out, there’s a big overlap between Swifties and DWTS fans.
Fans who saw the clip on YouTube unabashedly voiced their excitement in the comments. One wrote, “THIS IS GONNA BE THE BEST THING EVER OMGGGGG.” Another said, “AS A SWIFTIE I AM SCREAMING.” In terms of marketing, the upcoming Taylor Swift night may be the best decision DWTS has ever made.
