Real Housewives Who Provide Comic Relief

Bravo‘s long-running Real Housewives franchise has provided viewers with some of the funniest moments in reality television’s history. Each city features cast members with distinctive personalities. Therefore, this series has made us laugh and cringe in equal measures over the years. As for the laughter, we’ve truly appreciated those Real Housewives who provide comic relief.

One of the funniest stars to ever grace this franchise was Bethenny Frankel. From her blunt one-liners to her iconic catchphrases, Bethenny was always the source of hilarity. Bethenny “mentioned it all.” However, she’s now off-air, mentioning all of Bravo’s horrific treatments of reality television hires.

Another no longer airing yet hysterical star was NeNe Leakes. “Now why am I in it,” NeNe once asked, when a conversation that she was doing her best to avoid drug her in anyways. NeNe, you are here because your one-liners, your reads, and the endless amounts of memes that you’ve inspired still have us laughing years after your departure from the network.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t give honorable comedy mentions to two other former Real Housewives stars. Kim Richards and Kathy Hilton showed us that having a funny bone must run in their family. These sisters were both intentionally and unintentionally funny during their years spent on-air. From Kim yelling “I’ve had enough of you, you BEAST,” to Eileen Davidson, to Kathy behaving as if she’s never participated in the real world before (which is basically true, as she’s rich honeyyy), their personalities each brought levity to darker scenes.

Luckily, there are still funny cast members who remain on-air, spread out across this franchise. As for who, these are our top Real Housewives picks, all of which are continually providing us with bouts of much needed comedic relief.

Sonja Morgan

Although Sonja Morgan no longer stars on Real Housewives of New York, she is still on Welcome to Crappie Lake. She’s also starring in the new season of the Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. Therefore, we consider Sonja a still-employed Real Housewives star.

Sonja once nonchalantly proclaimed “A squirrel came in my room last night. I almost made out with him.” She also gave us the iconic catchphrase of “What are you doing here without Dorinda?” Overall, Sonja’s ability to bring comedic relief, which often defuses tense situations, has brought us great joy.

Luann de Lesseps

Bravo/YouTube

Just like Sonja, Luann de Lesseps got the axe from RHONY. However, she is Sonja’s Crappie Lake and RHUGT co-star, which means that her comedic chops are still on-air. Luann is seriously like the Chevy Chase of any cast that she joins. From falling off of a ledge when the stairs were literally right there, to falling into bushes and almost being bucked off of a camel, Luann’s lack of care and ability to roll with the punches has left us dead.

Luann has also left us with some great scenes, such as when Carol Radziwill stated that Bethenny called Lu a loser. The camera then panned to Lu, who dryly said, “Excuse me? If I’m a loser, the rest of the world sucks!” We wish that other Real Housewives could join Luann’s spirit in not being “all, like, uncool,” choosing to embrace her effortless style of humor instead.

Mary Cosby

Blunt Housewives/YouTube

We get it. Mary Cosby is not everybody’s cup of tea. Mary comes across as a snoozefest on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, choosing to avoid cast activities, opting for a McDonalds drive thru and/or just a comfortable chair instead. Basically, Mary hates her co-stars’ clothing, their lives, and when they smell like hospitals. And yet, we can’t help but laugh and shake our heads whenever she speaks.

That’s what makes Mary so unintentionally funny. She says the most outlandish statements. In turn, her peculiar behaviors have given RHOSLC several needed moments of comedic relief.

Karen Huger

Karen Huger is the Grande Dame on Real Housewives of Potomac. Almost every single scene, Karen’s humor and shade shines through. From yelling “Who ARE you?! SECURITY!!” to a mime, to holding a press conference to answer all of her co-stars’ questions, only to then refuse to answer a single thing, Karen is one of our top comedic reality television stars.

Kenya Moore

Mad Beefs/YouTube

Kenya Moore is the clapback queen of RHOA. Thankfully, her humor and wit is just as strong as her shade. She’s brought props to reunions, renamed Chateau Shereé to “Chateau She Can’t Pay,” and dissed her co-star Kandi Burruss, alongside Kandi’s mother, when saying “You and your tired mama Joyce wig,” to an unamused Kandi. That’s ok though, as we chuckled over Kenya’s hysterical comedic wit.

Sutton Stracke

Bravo/YouTube

Sutton Stracke is a quirky breath of fresh air on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Don’t get us wrong, she stirs the pot and calls out bad behaviors with the best of them, but she’s also unintentionally hysterical. From her many cat-themed, expensive outfits, to her responses that come out of left field, such as her Magic Mike lap-danceless anger, Sutton’s presence brings the comedic relief in droves.

Oh. She also made Edwin Arroyave‘s wife cry, which we hate to admit, made us laugh.
