Things are continuing to go downhill for Basketball Wives alum Brittish Williams. The reality TV celebrity will now have to pay up as part of her conviction and prison sentence over multiple counts of fraud.
Radar Online reported that, according to court documents, the reality star is being ordered to serve a four-year prison sentence and pay a restitution amount of $564,069.13 for her felonies.
It’s definitely all catching up with her.
“You knew what you were doing was wrong, and you did it anyway,” said U.S. District Judge Henry Autrey while reprimanding Brittish over her actions.
IRS, Social Security, and the FBI led to Brittish Williams’ prison stay
The case against the former VH1 personality was highly publicized. She faced an investigation from the Internal Revenue Service, the Social Security Administration, and the FBI for her crimes.
Brittish, 33, previously pleaded guilty to 15 felonies. Her crimes included misuse of a Social Security number, bank fraud, wire fraud, and making false statements to the IRS. She really swung for the fences.
The Department of Justice also reported that Brittish admitted to under-reporting her income on her tax returns for 2017-2019 while falsely claiming a nephew and niece as dependent.
She also “fraudulently used Social Security numbers not assigned to her to open accounts with credit card companies and banks” and submitted up to nine separate applications for Economic Injury Disaster Loans wherein she falsified business income, payroll, and more.
All of that just to fund her imaginary luxury lifestyle.
Pay the piper
And now Brittish’s bill is coming due. In addition to time behind bars, she has some seriously hefty fines to pay and will continue to be supervised for several years after completing her sentence.
“Brittish Williams was paid to portray her celebrity lifestyle on Basketball Wives when in fact, she was a typical fraudster,” said Jay Greenberg, FBI Special Agent in Charge. “After the sentencing, her reality is now the life of a felon.”
