The Mauricio Umansky and Kyle Richards separation was initiated by Kyle – or so she says. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars Kyle and Mauricio shocked everyone when they announced they were separating after 27 years of marriage. Everything seemed amicable.
But when THAT Mauricio holding hands photo leaked with Emma Slater, his dance partner on Dancing with the Stars, Kyle was upset. Even though her husband dedicated his dance during the Most Memorable Year to her, she took down her Instagram post supporting him. And she was a no-show at the ballroom. Given the unusually spicy routine, it was a blessing she wasn’t there in person.
The decision to separate was Kyle’s call
Kyle was a guest on Watch What Happens Live along with her bestie, Teddi Mellencamp. Host Andy Cohen asked who wanted the separation. “It originated from me, I’ll say,” she stated.
The couple is staying on trend by continuing to live together. “I let him stay in the primary bedroom ‘cause it’s very masculine and the upstairs floor’s like the glam and there’s like, a bed,” Kyle explained.
“And I was like, ‘What am I going to do? Put him in a room with flower and pink and velvet? No,” she added.
While their daughters are doing better now, that wasn’t the case when the news broke. “Our phones were blowing up, our kids were crying and wouldn’t leave the house,” Kyle said. “It was really, really difficult.”
The actress continued, “But now they’re much better and they’re really strong. They’re just so together and so smart and they’ve been my best, best, best friends. I could not be more proud of them,” Kyle said. “They’re just amazing human beings. Thank God I have them through this.”
Kyle also slammed people who thought that her marital split was “just for ratings.” She said, “What human being would do that to their children? To their family?” Kyle was really bothered by that conjecture. “I mean, that is just… Obviously, those people are very ignorant, but it’s so annoying,” she added.
Kyle Richards separation: Her sisters have her back
Kyle also has the support of her sisters, Kim Richards and Kathy Hilton. That must be a refreshing change. “[They’ve just told me] that we love you and we’re here for you. Kathy’s like, you know, ‘I’m always here for you and I know you have anxiety and I love you,’” Kyle said.
Of course, Andy asked Kyle about her friendship with singer Morgan Wade. Kyle said that Morgan is “absolutely one of my best, best friends in the world.” Then she reminded Andy that there were once romance rumors about her and Teddi. “Although they did say that about us. We were accused of this as well by the way,” Kyle said as she gestured to herself and Teddi.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 continues on Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
