Just before The Golden Bachelor was about to premiere, Gerry Turner was making the promotional run, doing interviews with just about everybody. In one of those interviews, Gerry admitted that he got swept up in the show in a way he hadn’t expected.
Initially, he criticized former Bachelor contestants for catching feelings for multiple people. But when Gerry found himself in the same position, he tucked his criticism away. He expressed how unexpected it all was.
After the October 19 episode, ABC aired a preview for next week’s episode that showed just how hard it was for Gerry to juggle his affection for multiple women.
The Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner only “ever felt worse” once before this
During Faith Martin’s one-on-one time with Gerry, she told him, “Every time I see you, I just fall for you deeper and deeper.” In a confessional, she further admitted, “Being here with Gerry is like a fairy tale I couldn’t even begin to describe.” Theresa Nist also admitted to Gerry: “I feel like I can’t live without you now,” tempted to break her 52 years of not falling in love.
In her alone time with Gerry, Ellen also confessed, “I am absolutely falling head over heels in love with you.” Gerry seemed to return the sentiment by saying, “You’re my girl.” However, behind closed doors, Gerry may have been feeling another way. He told the cameras, “I found a genuine, lasting love with more than one person.”
He further expressed, “I’m wondering if my journey can come to a happy ending.” As the feelings boiled over, he said, “The only time I’ve ever felt worse in my whole life is when my wife passed away and this is a god**mn close second.” From there, he stood up and said, “I’m done.”
