Dancing with the Stars judge Derek Hough is a married man! Derek wed Hayley Erbert on August 26. The couple met in 2014 on Derek and his sister Julianne Hough’s Move Live Tour. In 2022, after seven years of dating, Derek popped the question. Now they have sealed the deal. People has the exclusive scoop.
A fairytale wedding
The couple said ‘I Do’ in front of 106 guests in Monterey County, California. “We’re in a redwood forest, but we got married right in front of this mother tree that’s surrounded by all these smaller trees. The symbolism of it was beautiful,” Hayley explained. “We’re here, planting our seeds to grow our family.”
These nuptials were a days-long celebration. The welcome party on Thursday took place in Carmel at a cliffside estate. The next day was the rehearsal dinner. Derek noted it was “a big love fest.”
During the ceremony, the duo shared both traditional and personal vows. The officiant was Derek’s brother-in-law. Hayley wore a stunning custom duchess satin gown with a long veil. It was designed by Marchesa. “It’s all very just classic, timeless,” Hayley said of her dress choice.
Derek sported a Tom Ford suit for the ceremony and a suit by Brooks Brothers for the party. Hayley walked down the aisle to the song Unconditional by Richard Walters. He rewrote and recorded a special version for Derek and Hayley’s big day.
The reception was held in a 100-year-old barn. Guests were spoiled with Casamigos cocktails, and dinner options included vegetarian, salmon, and steak. There was a dessert bar and even late-night snacks like grilled cheese and mini-corn dogs. The couple selected a lavender huckleberry cake as their wedding cake. YUM!
Dance the night away
The bride and groom danced to Forrest Blakk’s Fall Into Me. They tripped the light fantastic on a mirrored dance floor. Some low fog combined to make their first dance unforgettable. Hayley wore a custom-made lace dress with a tulle skirt, also designed by Marchesa.
The couple had six bridesmaids and groomsmen. Derek chose his DWTS bestie Mark Ballas as his best man. The group had a six-day bachelor and bachelorette extravaganza.
Famous faces from DWTS were at the wedding, including Julianne, Jenna Johnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Robert Herjavec, and Kym Herjavec. Former contestants Amy Purdy, Shawn Johnson, and Maria Menounos also attended.
The couple is going to Italy for the first time on their honeymoon. “That’s what I look forward to is dancing until the end of time together and loving each other until the end of time,” Hayley stated.
“Let’s keep this beautiful adventure going,” Derek added.
