Dean Unglert certainly marches to his own drum. And his fiancée Caelynn Miller-Keyes just smiles and goes along with his weirdness. She must really love him.
First of all, the Bachelor Nation veteran (he’s appeared on The Bachelorette, The Bachelor Winter Games, and two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise) was some kind of nomad who traveled around the country and lived in his van. Second, he told Caelynn (his then-girlfriend of three-plus years), that he’d buy her an engagement ring if she bought him a truck. He later claimed he was only joking, but she bought him a truck anyway. Or at least put a hefty downpayment on it. The couple met on Season 6 of BIP.
Next, the Venice, California native supposedly bought a 4.5-carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring, but then lost it. He told buddy and fellow Bachelorette alum Jared Haibon on their Help! We Suck at Being Newlyweds podcast, where they share hosting duties with Caelynn, “It might be in the garage somewhere.” He had to buy a new “placeholder” engagement ring, when he finally popped the question in October 2022. Then Dean announced that both he and his new wife will change their last names following the wedding, in honor of Dean’s mom. Their new name, “Bell,” was her maiden name.
Now Page Six is reporting that Dean is talking about getting a vasectomy until they are ready to have children. Caelynn said last week on the podcast, “He wants to get a vasectomy because he doesn’t think it’s fair that a woman has to take birth control. So then, when we’re ready to have kids, he would un-snip himself, and we would have children.” Okaaaaaaaay.
I think these two need to educate themselves about vasectomies. Their hare-brained plan shocked not only co-host Jared, but me and everyone else reading this news. I don’t think vasectomy is meant to be a temporary form of birth control. It is reversible, but I understand the whole process is quite painful. And while it can be reversed, there’s no guarantee that a reversal will be successful. Plus have they put any thought into exactly what part of his anatomy will need to be snipped? Ouch.
Caelynn did admit that she and Dean “both need to research this more.” She added, “I heard there could be pain that’s involved if you get a vasectomy. And so I was like, ‘I don’t want you to be in pain.’” Do you get the feeling these two aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed?
I really hope Dean and Caelynn get some solid medical advice before taking such a drastic step in their lives. Or perhaps they should do some serious thinking about having children at all. Would you really want a guy who lost a diamond the size of a golf ball — in the garage — to be the father of your child?
TELL US – DO YOU THINK DEAN GETTING A VASECTOMY AS A TEMPORARY FORM OF BIRTH CONTROL IS A GOOD IDEA? DO YOU AGREE THAT DEAN IS SOMEWHAT OF AN “ODD DUCK?”
