Dorinda Medley is no stranger to things getting heated. During her time on Real Housewives of New York, she had plenty of blow ups. And was never one to back down. So her stint on the upcoming Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip season 2 was bound to be a wild one. Enter former Real Housewives of Orange County OG, Vicki Gunvalson. Another one who is used to arguing and rarely takes a seat. Ok, never takes a seat. News leaked that the two got into it over the COVID-19 vaccine during filming and now Dorinda is sharing what happened.
In an interview with Page Six, Dorinda gives her side of the story that made Blue Stone Manor a COVID-19 vaccine battleground. Said Dorinda, “I just was kind of clear about my views on that. You know I like to be clear on my views. Especially after a couple martinis, I get very clear.” I don’t know if “clear” would be the best way to describe Dorinda after a few martinis. But I’m assuming she meant she stuck to her point of view. She added, “For me, it was [about] science.” Dorinda even used her famous line and quipped, “[I] was startin’ — and goin’!”
But for Dorinda, it really wasn’t a joking matter. From Dorinda’s point of view, coronavirus has been “weirdly politicized.” So she made sure to let Vicki know that her points were about science and not political affiliations. Dorinda explained, “There was nothing emotional about it. There was no red or blue.” According to Dorinda, Vicki made “fleeting” generalizations about the vaccine. Generalizations that weren’t supported in fact. Dorinda recalled, “That was one of the problems and one of the things we discussed. You can’t be flip about it. … [I had to] just jump and believe in science — not all the noise.”
While we are getting Dorinda’s side now, this isn’t the first we heard about the blow up. Back in September, a source revealed that Vicki went off on her co-stars about the vaccine. The source claimed,“She wouldn’t stop fighting about the shot and really got into it with Dorinda. Vicki told Dorinda that everyone who got the vaccine is going to die.”
Vicki previously defended herself and said, “To clarify, my conversation with Dorinda was specifically about a man I know who didn’t have a history of blood clots and unfortunately passed away from a pulmonary embolism, which happened to occur after he took the second dose of the vaccine.”
Despite the severity of the fight, Vicki revealed a few months later that she changed her mind about the vaccine. She elaborated, “It’s different where I stand now. But at that time, which was September of last year, quite a while ago, it’s a different stance than where I am now.” She also maintained that she is “not anti-vax.”
But in a strange move, Vicki still asserts that the vaccine is “political,” despite Dorinda’s argument to the contrary. Vicki continued, “I told [Dorinda] it’s political and she didn’t agree, and if it’s not political then why is the government mandating it? So, you can believe what you wanna believe, but the facts are the facts. So, she has her opinions and I respect it. I just didn’t think she respected my opinion.”
But Dorinda insisted that she was merely disappointed by the “misinformation” she felt Vicki was sharing. Dorinda concluded, “I hated during that whole period the misinformation, the silly chatter [I was hearing]. [And] these scary statements people made.”
