Sometimes, the cast or season of a show leave our minds after their respective reunion airs. It’s the accelerated pace of the times we live in. Onto the next season, as it were. But at times, something draws us back into the leftover drama. Such is the case of Below Deck Sailing Yacht.
Not only are Chief Stew Daily Kelliher and Bosun Gary King back for the third installment, but they have been teasing fans with hookup rumors. Then there’s the issue of the paternity of second season stew Dani Soares’ daughter Lilly. After a drawn out battle between Dani and the suspected father, Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux, during the Season Two reunion, finally a paternity test was administered. It was a major international event, traveling through land and sea to bring us the scientific conclusion of Lilly’s paternity. And Jean-Luc is indeed the father of the adorable eight-month-old girl.
Jean-Luc made a very public announcement about fathering Lilly in January 2022 on his Instagram platform. It was a questionable decision, and recently, Daisy and Gary expressed their opinion on Jean-Luc’s reaction. The returning Chief Stew told Entertainment Tonight that,”I thought it wasn’t an appropriate post.” And, “I don’t think something so complicated should be talked so openly on social media in my opinion, especially for Lilly, who can’t vocalize for herself. But that’s just my opinion. It’s not really any of my business, but I think the post could have been more about Lilly and Dani and maybe a bit less about Jean-Luc.”

Gary had a similar negative opinion. He told the news outlet that, “I guess that’s good on him but Dani doesn’t need him to come out on Instagram telling everybody that he’s a father. Dani needs [more than that]. She’s a single parent living in Australia by herself, she needs support from Jean-Luc. She needs a father to be there for the child. It’s all good in saying stuff on social media but words are completely different to actions and if his actions spoke louder than his words, then then it would be different, but they at the moment they’re not.”
Of course, Gary is referring to Jean Luc’s hesitancy about taking a paternity test during the Season Two reunion. Gary explained, “his actions are just something that I can’t forgive. He should have been there for her, played more of a part and not hid away from the truth. I’m brought up differently and if I had to do something like that my mother would disown me. So it’s just something very hard for me to swallow his actions.”
Daisy referred to Jean Luc’s age as an explanation. She said, “Jean-Luc, he’s young. I can’t judge him too much, I’ve got 10 years on him. He’ll learn, unfortunately I think he’ll learn the hard way.”

That’s pretty understanding of Daisy, especially since she is still very close with her former second stew. She shared an update on Dani during the interview. “Dani is still doing great,” Daisy revealed, ” We still contact each other when we can, we both are very busy with their own lives but we’re still really good friends…I’m always there for her when she needs me and we still talk a lot.”
And though little Miss Lilly has been the topic of many BDSY conversation of late, Daisy has yet to meet Dani’s daughter due to Australia’s pandemic travel restrictions. But a recent change in policy will facilitate a potential meet. Daisy explained,” I just got a text that the Australian borders are open so I’ll have to try and go over there and the next year, but no I haven’t met her.”

Though Dani was a fan favorite, Daisy doesn’t see a comeback for her anytime soon. She admitted, “I would love Dani to come back but I don’t think that’s gonna happen. Dani doesn’t even find time to make herself dinner and she’s also made it very clear that she was done with yachting, that that was her last season of yachting. She went out with a bang. But I would personally love to work with Dani, she was one of the best stewardesses I’ve ever had.”
