Eboni K. Williams Explains Why Hosting The View Is Her Dream Job

Can we all agree that Season 13 of The Real Housewives of New York City has left a little something to be desired. I can easily admit to turning the TV off and walking away in exasperation at least a half dozen times this season. We expect more. This is RHONY after all. We deserve more. Especially when it started out with such promise.

Leah McSweeney was coming off a successful first season and Dorinda Medley was taking some much needed me timeEboni K. Williams was added as the first black cast member in RHONY history, following in the footsteps of Garcelle Beauvais, who I might add has been a very successful add to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. These changes were supposed to be as positive as Sonja Morgan’s COVID test. It just hasn’t worked out that way.

Fan’s felt that Eboni has been too preachy with her fellow castmates, lecturing at them, instead of teaching them. It’s a slightly surprising response, considering that this is a woman who sat behind a desk at Fox News. She’s used to telling people how it is and what they need to know in a concise manner. We should have expected her to face racism with the same in your face directness. And while both her time on the show and RHONY itself are in limbo, one thing that is not is Eboni’s future as a talk show host.

Eboni and fellow Bravolebrity Cameran Eubanks of Southern Charm fame, will be joining a roster of rotating accomplished women filling the chair left vacant by Meghan McCain on The View. Eboni recently gave an exclusive interview to Hollywood Life, appearing on an episode of TVTalk to dish about it all.

This isn’t the first time Eboni and Meghan have shared the same spotlight. Both worked at Fox News, often times together. And while Eboni feels like “some of the other guest hosts might be more ideologically aligned with Meghan, but the interesting thing about me is I’m not an ideal log. She believes that difference will be a good thing.

It sounds like Eboni will be bringing a much needed perspective to The View. And, it’s my hope that it will give her a little kick-in-the-pants reminder that we need to talk with people, and not at them. Considering she said, “I think The View is the intersection of informed opinion, passionate debate and also introspective and important news making interviews. I think it would be a dream job and I would be blessed with any opportunity to do it for a day, a year and a lifetime,” it seems like we are already getting there. Yay for growth.

Let me tell you, this interview gave me all the feels. It seems that the goal of sitting at the table with fellow education women from all walks of life, and talking about all the things, has been a goal of Eboni’s since childhood.

“I remember seeing Star Jones, who’s an OG. Star Jones was very inspirational to me personally because Star was a lawyer by trait as well,” Eboni said.

Eboni continued, “Watching her be so incredible on The View for nine years… It showed me what was possible as a female attorney.”

“It showed me the broadness of what my career could really offer and so yeah, to be able to sit at that table, even for a handful of days coming up soon, it’s literally a dream come true. I can’t overstate how emotionally and spiritually I am touched by this opportunity.”

I am so here for this. If only I could have the opportunity to recreate Julia Child’s cooking show to make my childhood dreams come true.
