Family Karma Star Amrit Kapai Mourns The Death Of Beloved Grandmother

Bravo’s Family Karma is one of those shows that you might be sleeping on. The show is a much more wholesome vibe than your typical Bravo franchise. It follows the lives of not only young, hot Indians living their lives, but their families too. In a tight-knit Florida community, everyone knows everyone’s gossip. And the parents and Aunties are equally as interesting as their younger counterparts.

Family Karma has also brought us some extremely powerful moments. Star Amrit Kapai, who is gay, recently came out on camera to his beloved grandmother. While his parents are accepting of his relationship, his grandmother still thought he and partner Nicholas Kouchoukos were merely friends. Amrit coming out to her was both painful and poignant, with his grandmother ultimately giving her blessing.

Now Amrit has to deal with a profound loss of his grandmother. “Nani” as he affectionally called her, recently passed away. Amrit took to Instagram to tell the news and pay tribute.

He started his post, “I recently came out to my Nani. She passed away this morning. I’ll always wonder if I did the right thing.” Amrit continued, “Towards the end, my Nani must’ve felt so insignificant. If only I could explain to her, ‘Nani, you were far from insignificant. You are the Goliath that we will always love and remember. Even this last chapter of your incredible life will have a lasting impact on so many people. We will celebrate you, your love, and your kindness for years to come.’”

He sadly concluded, “Rest peacefully, my angel. I hope I never caused you any sadness.” He added a broken heart emoji, which literally broke my heart as well!

The loss of a loved one is so hard, especially when you are that close to them. Coupled with the news that Amrit recently shared with her, it must be extra painful for him. He questioned in the post if he did the right thing. I hope that ultimately he realizes that he did so that he could live an authentic life for himself. With Nani accepting him as he is.

Family Karma truly is about family. And I love to see it. Our condolences to Amrit and his family on such a huge loss.
