Survivor Will Resume Filming For The First Time Since Start Of Coronavirus Pandemic

Drop your buffs! It’s a new day! A new beginning! At long last! Now if only there were a feast…. I, for one, am absolutely STARVED for more Survivor content. After one of the most iconic seasons ever, fans have been left without new episodes since May thanks to the pandemic! For context, Survivor typically features two seasons each year. This has been a practice in patience.

Of course, many fans of the show have never even watched a season live. Since  the pandemic began, many people have found themselves binging past episodes on Netflix or Hulu. If you’re still new to the scene I recommend you spend some time with Cagayan (season 28) and Millennials vs. Gen X (season 33). Then grab your torch and join us here!

Us Weekly reported on Jeff Probst’s March 22nd comments regarding the long awaited Season 41. Jeff said, “Survivor’s going back into production! Fiji has invited us back to their beautiful country to shoot season 41.” As we know, Jeff loves filming in Fiji. The last eight seasons of the show were filmed there. I love this for him. And most importantly, for us.

Jeff gave insight into the precautions for cast and crew. He added, “We have all of our COVID protocols in place so that everybody in Fiji will remain safe, all of our crew will be safe and, of course, our players will be safe.” While people may have a point that the cast could simply quarantine beforehand to make it safe, it’s important to remember there are a lot of people working behind the scenes. These production members fly in from all over the world, making coordinating filming in a global pandemic quite the undertaking.

Jeff  revealed, “I’ve got to tell you, I can’t remember a time when I’ve been this pumped to shoot Survivor, and I’ll tell you why: The past year has reminded me, and I hope it’s reminded you, that you’ve got to live your life like it’s one big great adventure, and Survivor fulfills that. So, I am thrilled to say I will see you on the island for Survivor 41. Let’s do it!” Pitter patter.

This coming season promises to cast 50% BIPOC under CBS’ new pledge. Filming is set to begin March 24th.
