Leah McSweeney Real Housewives Of New York

Leah McSweeney Says She Would “Feel Like Giving Up” If She Didn’t Have A Daughter

We are so used to seeing the party time versions of the Real Housewives Of New York ladies. Even their dark shit is related to a constant drive to keep up socially.  A pandemic couldn’t stop Ramona Singer who has been spotted partying (maskless) more than I care to count. It’s not often we see the reserved side of these New Yorkers. Don’t get me wrong. I love this cast and find them to be some of the most authentic, even if they are still some of the most kooky.

Leah McSweeney, who is known to be quite blunt, is bringing the softer side to RHONY recently. After Ramona outted Leah’s bipolar disorder, she was basically forced to share this part of her life with the world. On someone else’s schedule no less. Lucky for us, she’s never been one to shy away from telling it like it is.

During this off-season, and endlessly delayed filmingLeah is using her Insta-stories to keep fans aware of how she’s doing. Us Weekly reported on a recent story where Leah shared, “Didn’t realize how badly I was suffering from depression on and off for the past year until a couple weeks ago when I told my mom and Rob [Cristofaro] if it wasn’t for Kiki [Cristofaro] I’d feel like giving up.” Honestly, Leah and Kiki’s relationship is beyond precious. But this hurts my heart for Leah.

Leah continued, “I felt guilty for feeling like that because of how blessed of a life I have. But depression does not discriminate.” She also shared, “I knew I had to do something about it so I adjusted my medication.” Glad to see she is doing whatever it is she needs to stay well.

Leah revealed that she has also started “forcing herself” to work out every day which she says is huge for getting her brain to feel better. In addition, she’s also adding some spiritual work to the regimen.

Of course, anyone who understands depression knows how truly isolating it can feel. Leah shared with her followers that she will continue to write and share about her mental health in the “near future.” I, for one, appreciate this unexpected vulnerability and depth some of these newer Housewives are bringing.
