Andy Cohen Responds To Backlash From Real Housewives Of Potomac Reunion

The Real Housewives of Potomac Reunion put Monique Samuels back onscreen after being iced out of the group since her fight with Candiace Dillard.  Her name was constantly on the lips of her cast mates, but Monique was largely missing in action for the latter part of the season.

Both Candiace and Monique were able to speak their truth regarding the altercation.  They faced each other, but were unable to resolve the situation.  Some fans questioned the impartiality of the reunion, specifically Andy Cohen’s role in monitoring the conversation.  Candiace had the support of Gizelle Bryant, Robyn Dixon, Wendy Osefo, and at times Karen Huger as well.  She also got more time to speak, so it’s not surprisings that Monique’s fans are crying foul.  Especially since Monique quit the show because of her treatment at the reunion.

Andy responded to claims that the reunion was skewed in favor of Candiace during a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live.

“I did think you were more on Candiace’s side than Monique,” guest Rachel Lindsay opined, “you held her feet to the fire more than Candiace.” Andy claimed that a lot of pivotal footage was edited out.

“I got that a lot,” Andy replied. He added, “And I have to say, I was really pushing for this to be four parts.  And I really talked to Candiace a lot about her role in this. And the fact that really people,a lot of people think she provoked it.” Andy concluded,  “And she said drag me.”

Some are questioning a double standard in the way Bravo reacted to Monique and Candiace’s fight versus the one between Kenya Moore and Porsha Williams on Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Again, Andy claims the issues were addressed, but not included in the final footage.  “We talked bout that in relation to what Kenya and Porsha went through and I don’t think enough of that made it in the show,” Andy said, “clearly.”

One can only say so much, and we have to take Andy’s word for it.  But if footage doesn’t make it to air, it’s hardly going to quell the outraged masses.

“Unless we aired it,” Andy acknowledged, “I don’t think it makes any difference because I know a lot of people were very upset.”

Fans did not get a resolution between Candiace and Monique at the reunion. Additionally, Andy doesn’t see it happening outside of the show. He remarked, “I don’t know that I see that happening.”
