Shep Rose Says He Almost Quit Southern Charm; Weighs In On Cameran Eubanks’ Exit

Southern Charm has had a fair amount of recasting this season. The show lost Naomie OlindoChelsea Meissnerand Cameran Eubanks. They added new cast members, Leva Bonaparte and John Pringle. While Leva is carrying on Cameran’s tradition of beefing with Kathryn Dennis, John is just being another grown-ass man-child chasing unavailable women.  Don’t we already have enough of those on the show?

Shep Rose really is the only one we need to get our healthy dose of deadbeat with this franchise. He’s finally old enough, at 40, to use the world girlfriend for goodness sake. He’s really going for the good guy edit this year. Maybe he’s finally taking feedback from his previous years seriously.

Shep did an interview with Entertainment Tonight where he discussed his reactions to the criticism last year. He admitted, “Last season was hard for me, and I’m not pointing fingers because I’ve pointed them at myself, as well.” Are we about to finally hear some accountability?

Shep continued his epiphany saying, “I was disillusioned. I talked to Cameran and was like, ‘I don’t think I want to do this anymore,’ just because of social media. … It’s just hard when people are hammering you … [and] it’s hard to block everything out.” I really am trying to imagine the amount of ego it must take him to watch himself back on TV and think he deserves any sympathy from fans. Even off the show he’s terrible. Never forget the video he posted OF HIMSELF mocking a person who was homeless.

He also added, “Cameran always signs up at the last second, she’s always like, ‘I want to get out,’ and then she does it and we have a ball.”

This year, there was a much longer break in filming, though. And Cameran didn’t return. Shep notes, “This season, I don’t think she sort of liked last season. I don’t think she liked the tone of it — I sure didn’t, but I wanted to … continue and sort of let my soul shine through, hopefully. So, that was kind of my determining factor. I was like, let’s do this again, because we can do it better.”

Shep also reported, “She just said, ‘It’s not worth it to me and I’m not gonna do it.” Of course, Cameran’s exit led to ever-classy Kathryn being brave enough to blatantly bash Cameran’s marriage. I’ve never seen a weaker person in blue eye-liner and orange eyeshadow.

Shep continued “Sure, we have our moments, people who have been on the show since the beginning…I wonder, if I left would it still [work]? But I think we’ve got ourselves a good season.” Eh, I’m yet to be convinced. Now back to Cameran. Shep added, “I think Cameran, one of the reasons she left is she was just, like, there was always a sense of decorum in our group.” …really? I watched a dude allow his girlfriend to call his child’s mother an egg donor once. Is that what the south considers decorum?

He kept going, “Like, there would be some screaming matches, but you didn’t cross certain lines, you didn’t really go for jugular, because after all we are Southern Charm, right? We’re all going to bury our head in our hands in certain moments, but as long as it’s an even flow, and it peaks and troughs and stuff, then I can deal with it.” Okay. Now I’m fully convinced he doesn’t watch the show.

Shep confessed “I know that [Cameran] really enjoyed — and she might not admit it — sort of the juice of the show, meaning the gossip and knowing what everyone is saying. She was like, front-row seat to all the salaciousness and ridiculousness, and I think she took joy in that. So, maybe she’ll want to jump back on the train. Obviously, I think we’d all welcome her.”
