At this point, it seems like Gina Kirschenheiter is having the most amicable divorce in Real Housewives history. She’s completely sure that she’s ready to move on and she and her husband are on great terms. Sure, Matt Kirschenheiter has never actually appeared on Real Housewives of Orange County, so we don’t know for sure what’s going on with them, but if Gina says its all good and Matt hasn’t said a peep, then it’s safe to assume it’s all good.
There’s just one problem though: Gina’s costars. They are not buying what Gina is selling and they are giving her such a hard time about her decision to divorce, even though they pretty much all just met Gina and they don’t know her husband.
In an interview with E! News, Gina admitted, “I get where they are coming from. They walked a different journey than I have so I would understand them being skeptical. And they don’t know Matt and they don’t know my relationship and all of a sudden I’m getting divorced.” Gina’s husband lives in an apartment she’s never seen two hours away, how were the women “shocked” by the divorce revelation? Even so, they have no actual insight into Gina’s situation, so they really don’t have the right to tell her she’s making a mistake and “lacks a moral compass”– cough, cough Vicki Gunvalson.
Gina said, “I’m just a girl going through a really hard time and this would have been the right moment to ask me if I’m okay and give me a hug instead of just trying to beat me down for my life choices. That was surprising to me.” Unfortunately that’s just par for the course when it comes to this show, especially since most of them are lacking their own story lines. However, she did point out that fellow new cast member Emily Simpson has been supporting her throughout the split.
