Well, it looks like Mob Wives cast member Renee Graziano has a better chance at becoming a contestant on Dancing with the Stars than any of the Housewives at this point.
Fans have often wondered why none of their beloved Housewives have been given a shot at the mirrorball trophy (and let’s face it, they looooove shiny things!). Radar Online did some digging and came up with a source who shared that the ladies just aren’t famous enough for the show and the fact that they work for a “rival” network. (ABC vs. NBC-owned Bravo)

“There have been former and current Housewives that have reached out to producers to appear on Dancing With the Stars but the ladies have all been shot down. Taylor Armstrong expressed an interest in appearing and she was rejected. Producers of Dancing With The Stars just don’t think the ladies are big enough stars to appear on the show.”
It’s not just about their level of fame, but the negative press that follows them like the plague. “Dancing With The Stars is a family friendly show and a lot of the cast members from the Housewives have all sorts of unsavory issues in their background and sadly, the women tend to get more negative press than positive, and ABC would never want to go down that road. ABC doesn’t shy away from casting controversial stars, from Bristol Palin to Kate Gosselin, but both of those ladies have a hard core fan base.”
I don’t know if I’m buying this. Not famous enough? Ashley Hamilton, anyone? Hell, Urkel is on the show! I’d like to believe the network rivalry theory, but then I remembered that Kim Kardashian was on and she stars on twenty-five shows for E!, which is owned by NBC.
I’d also like to comment about the “family friendly” excuse. I hear this a lot about the show, but I’d love to know on what planet is this “family friendly”? There is more sexing it up in saucy costumes with their bits spilling out on this show than on a single episode of any of the Housewives series! So, none of it makes sense.
